It is illegal in NM to purchase from anyone other than the LNPPs
Just wanted the patients who visit this site to remember that it is illegal to purchase from anyone other than the licensed nonprofit producers. The DOH will be receiving the license renewal fees from the LNPPs in December. The DOH will be using the money to hire 5-7 full time staff members. Their first priority will be site visits of all the patients with personal production licenses. In addition, several patients have lost their PPL due to someone turning them in for selling or growing more than allowed. Let's do our part to keep this program going. If you don't have a PPL, support your local producer. The prices are starting to come down and will continue to do so. We just have to have patience and we must follow the rules.

Recycle and Reuse - It can save your medicine and you
To help avoid any unwanted problems or hassles from law enforcement, always keep your medical cannabis in the containers it came in. Licensed to grow your own? Recycle and reuse your previously purchased containers, they are labeled and clearly state the contents within are legal medical cannabis.
Law enforcement departments across the state are being advised by the DOH to look for labeled medical cannabis. Cannabis found in non-labeled packages are suspect of being illegal and may require proof of legal purchase, such as a receipt.
Thankfully if you are in this position and you have lost your receipt,
all you need do is stop by your local producer and ask for a printed copy.

Be smart, be safe and stay out of trouble.
Not for a nano second do I believe that I can be cited for having cannabis in an old shoebox, as long as I can produce my patients card.
Once I have my street corner purchase in my hands it's legal if I have my patient card in pocket.
so go spread misinformation elsewhere will you?
The act clearly states what happens when you have an encounter with law enforcement. If I have a joint in my pocket how should I attach a label to that?

Patient 4200...it is unfortunate that you believe that good people who come to this website to relay information which has been obtained from the DOH is providing the registered patients "misinformation". Due to the federal crackdown, and seemingly the reversal of the lenient policy stated by Attorney General Eric Holder, the DOH wants to ensure that the patients understand their rights under the program and the consequences of not following the rules. Cannahub is obviously involved with some of the producers. The producers recently had a meeting with the DOH, which has been reported on this very website. As I just stated in my response to MimbresValley, I am closely associated with one of the producers and am a fellow patient. Please tell me why we would want to provide other patients with misinformation? CannaHub even tells you to reuse your packaging you receive from a producer. That doesn't mean you have to continually purchase from a producer. However, purchasing on the street does not protect you under the act and that is clearly stated. Purchasing on the street constitutes one of those "illicit acts" which is not protected. And, just to let you know....if you are buying medicinal grade on the street more power to you and it will be difficult (but not impossible) to tell the legal from the illegal. However, if you are purchasing anything other than medicinal grade, law enforcement knows the difference and should you be detained, you would need to disclose from which producer you obtained your medicine. If it is in a labeled package, you only need to show them the packaging. If, as you say, you have a joint in your pocket, then for your safety, perhaps you could carry a receipt in your wallet. Just a suggestion because that's what I do.

cfo you state "it will be difficult (but not impossible) to tell the legal from the illegal." what are you talking about? But I do agree with you on having a container with a lable that states that it is for medical use.So what if you grow your own do you just make your own lable?LOL P.S. you also state "However, if you are purchasing anything other than medicinal grade, law enforcement knows the difference and should you be detained" Again are you out to scare people into thinking that law enforcement is out to get them or what?

CFO one more thing are you a board member for that producer you work closely with? "if you are buying medicinal grade on the street more power to you" it is possible to get medical grade on the street and lower price than the producers. But with swops low price on that one strain that would be hard to beat.If any one has tried it let us know if it is medical grade or street grade.

Patient 420,
Please take another nano second and look at the post you are railing against. It says to avoid troubles or hassles with the law?. Nothing about being cited. I apologize if this confused you.
Do you really want to advocate going around with your medical cannabis in a shoebox? Do you honestly think that if you get stopped, you are not going to get hassled by the cops? Really? You must live in the one part of the state that only has wonderful, medical cannabis friendly law enforcement officials - and not here in Albuquerque. You are truly blessed.
But I would suggest that that the rest of us licensed patients not to keep your meds in a shoebox. It will dry out your meds, impart that ??new sneaker? smell and if you do get stopped you will more then likely have to spend a considerable amount of time explaining why you have a shoebox of marijuana?.card or not.
Or you could just present your meds in a clearly labeled (glass preferably) container and your card. You could avoid a big hassle and be on your way. I personally like to spend as little time with law enforcement as possible. But that??s just me.
There is no intention of spreading misinformation in this post but you can read into it what you want. Hopefully the rest of us will take the advise and move on with life.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I am so tired of being attacked by people on this forum. People can accept the information that is disseminated on this website as a way of trying to help, or they can be negative and read into every post more than what is intended. For those that grow their own....obviously they will have their PPL to show to any law enforcement personnel. Those that don't grow their own and are purchasing illegally are the ones that need to worry. If someone is following the rules, then advice that is posted here means nothing to them. AND, since the assumption is made that people who are on these sites [I]know[I] how to read....I punctuate my sentences properly, so if you have a question regarding what I have said...perhaps you could go back and read the sentence again before commenting. So that there is little confusion, my posts are usually fairly complete. However, there have been times where I have been in such a hurry that there may be a misspelling or two.
