okay, I can see how someone could conclude that, but that wasn't my intention. personally I really couldn't care what a person does in the privacy of their own home between consenting adults and no I don't think we should ever see this types of raids for any family home.

I do think there is a fundamental difference from using cannabis vs. say smoking crack or meth, and this difference should be reflected in our laws, but that is whole different topic. I take it you disagree.

the main point I was trying to make is that I can understand the officers' point of view, too, wanting to stay safe and all, especially after reading your comments and knowing your story. but anyways crazy shit, and yes, as was just said, seeing your family dogs get gunned down in front of your kids would sure upset me, too. :mad:

If I'm performing a search and get attacked by a dog, sorry, but the dog is going to be the one to get hurt- not me if I have anything to say about it.

My point was that if the police were to properly do their homework in a drug investigation they should be quite able to see what they're dealing with; be it a hardened individual or group of individual criminal predator types dealing drugs or "joe blow I like to pack my nose" kind of person and carry out their search warrant accordingly. Nowadays everyone gets treated like an Al Capone and that's just bullshit. Most of the current mindset is directly attributable to the bigoted prohibitionist crap depicting the average drug user as some kind of monster.

yeah, I agree. from what I've read this was totally f'd up before they ever even arrived at the scene. i think the search warrent was two months old, etc.

In another thread someone has posted a video of the Columbia, MO Police Chief and it sounds like he is actually on our side and wants help in changing the laws there.

I wonder if this was this city, county or state police in this raid? anyone know? Columbia has more relaxed cannabis laws that the rest of Missouri but they are, one would assume, still subject to State law enforcement. Could be interesting to see how all this plays out in the court of public opinion.

Let's face it, if our forefathers simply HAD to be prohibitionists- why didn't they legalize an opiod beverage of some standard dose and cannabis rather than far more hazardous substances like alcoholic beverages and tobacco?

well, from what I understand from my years of studies at the History Channel Univ. :jointsmile: our founding fathers had a deep respect for hemp and its flowering cousin, cannabis. They all grew it. Jefferson had an extensive collection of seeds from all over the world. :cool:

but, for a pure cash crop, tobacco was a better choice because of its physical addictive properties. much like opium or heroin. once the English and the rest of the world got a taste of our tobacco they were hooked for life. Cha Ching! $$$$

I don't think it's so simple as just profit motive and tobacco being the golden ticket. Let's face it, we could have just as easily made a lot of money off of opium products as a replacement for alcoholic beverages within the alkie/junkie community. So much of it boils down to just plain bigorty. After all, arent all those other drugs for poor folks and people of color and squinty eyes???

Also, understand that most of this prohibitionist silly shit actually didn't begin to dominate our laws at the federal level until 1914 with the Harrison Act and of course the temperance movement and alcohol prohibition in 1920 under the 18th amendement. Although... you really do have to give the tobacco growers credit for coming up with one of the most insidious drugs out there and a delivery system guaranteed to insure medical casualties for decades to come!
