from what I have read, the seeds are made from at least one hermaphrodite parent. If I have a black dad and a white mom i prob won't come out Asian.

Where do I get my femmed seeds...? Rusty's Seed Bank. Some of my favorites are my Swazi, Northern Lights (the original) C-99, Sweet Tooth, Potent Purple, Inca Spirit, PokerFace (Reeferman's pre Cherry Bomb) Diesel...and shitloads of crosses. Been doing it for years with no evidence of this bullshit about hermies EVER. Those breeders or seed salesmen that wish to convince you of their magical femming techniques, are likely afraid us ordinary growers will think we can do it too. (which they can with proper information, experience and the right growroom situation) You can cite all the articles you want, and fill your head with all sorts of doubts and misinformation. But I wouldn't make these claims were they not repeatable by anyone with the willingness (and skills) to give it a try.
By your post, you seem to have it in your head that only a hermaphrodite can pump out the pollen, so I'm guessing you think all cannabis ladies are hermaphrodites...? (False) Read my lips...EVERY STRAIN I HAVE WORKED WITH CAN BE FORCED. Period.
It's not a sign that a plant is a hermaphrodite. It means they have the ability to be forced. A hermaphrodite expresses both sexes at the same time, without any stressing by the gardener., It is genetically damaged. One that is of good stock, and stressed into the process, can be reverted back to normalcy through re-veg.
If one damages the genes in the process, or starts with a weak strain to begin with...then yes, the genetics can be degraded.

Hi demoreal, interesting article you point at there, but it does mention in there that they stressed the plants out to get them to hermi, which I believe is what Rusty is saying.
As one of the comments at the bottom of the article mentions, femmed seeds are ideal for people in a similar situation to myself where we only have 1 grow room, not able to take cuttings, flower certain plants to show sex etc.
I'm gonna give femmed a try next time so I'll report back on how things go. Not a massively experienced grower, but have learnt a huge amount from my first couple of attempts.
Rusty, when you getting your own seed bank online!? ;) Few strains there I wouldn't mind trying.
Question, does anyone know where I can pickup any Fruit Bowl (by SunshineSeeds) seeds from? Or Sweet Tooth #4 x Sour Diesel. I got given a few before this grow but none of them germinated unfortunately and would like to give them a try.

it is true that you can force just about any strain to hermi.
i am not pro at biology but you don't think it would have impact on future generations.
you force it to hermi then reproduce.
apposed to force it to hermi and take a clone.
i really don't know.
but if rusty says he has worked with kick ass feminized seeds get the ones he gets.
your argument of shity growers should prob be more an argument of shity breeders.
there are alot of real good breeders out there. It would be bad for there reputation if it did hermi a bunch. so i guess just spend the money and get seeds from a good breeder.
the hardcore breeders do spend years working on strains.
i guess i am just a bit spoiled.
I live in california where people sell clones on Craig's list.

Was gifted some med strains when on another site many years ago. (thanks again to those that helped...) Been keeping 'em up to breed standards, and trying different crosses along the way. Lately I've been concentrating on 'regular' seeds, but I still dabble in femmed every once in a while. Sorry, until federal laws change...my genetics stay in-house.
I just recently (last year or two) got good enough with mom-keeping and cloning, so my demand for the femmed short-cut isn't as stong now. The hard part is keeping them seperate and properly labeled, but it still tickles me pink playing growroom god with the genetics. ;)
I try and blame the breeders whenever possible, but usually the blame is shared. Tiz why I cherrish the old strains I've got. Trust wanes as money (and ego) flows.
I did just have some Ducksfoot x Maui and some White Widdow show-up on my doorstep. Can't wait to see those in action. Was a gift, so will have to double-check the source for specifics. :thumbsup:
