3 out of 4 males from seed

    Hi Guys,

I've been a bit unlucky with some non-feminized seeds and as the title says have got 3 male out of the 4 plants I have going. They are only in their first week of flowering after 6 weeks of veg.

My question is, can I take a few cuttings from the girl, revert her back to veg and grow the clones? Or could I revert her back to veg, get some feminised seeds, grow these then stick everything in to flower after a decent veg time?

I do not have a dedicated veg room so everything is in the one space and just worried about stressing her out. Also growing in soil if that makes any difference regarding clones.

The lesson today kids, if growing from seed, spend a bit more and get feminized...

    Thanks.

i have heard feminized seeds hermi real easy. i would take clones and flower all the clones. If it has only been flowering a week you can take the clones now. i took clones once off a plant flowering two weeks and they rooted real nice.
take the clones veg them and then flower them.

Hey demoreal, thanks for the quick reply.

So you think I'll be able to take 3 cuttings from her and put her back in to veg without stressing her out?

I've LST'd my plants and from what I've been reading on cloning it's best to take cuttings from the lower branches of the plant, does this still apply with a plant that's been LST'd?

hi mistaj,i'm in the same boat as you,bagseed,2male,1hermie,1female,only one growroom, dont wanna take clones and stress her into a hermie,so i'm just gonna let her finish and source some clones 4 next run!!

I have read that too. the way I take a clone is just take any branch that looks good. I still have not been able to notice any difference from top to bottom. clone it I don't think it will stress it at all. I have done it with great results, but if you do take that plant out of flower revert it. i would do it kinda soon, but I don't think it matters if you take the clones now or later. I would do it now cause that means you don't have to wait.

Thanks demoreal, I haven't got any cloning gels or products atm, might be able to pick some up tomorrow and give it a go.

stra8outtaWeed, I have the same book mate but have found it a bit hard to control moisture levels in a 75x75x160 tent. There's not enough room to stick a humidifier in and I have been adding pots of water to try and raise levels but have not been able to maintain them to the levels mentioned in Jorge's book.

Busybee, I feel for you mate, it's a right pisser isn't it!! Time and effort put in and only 1 bird out the flock. I wish I had access to clones but it looks like I'm going to have to try feminised seeds next. I may just ride it out with the 1 female I have like you are and increase my knowledge for next time. Good luck with your grow dude.

    Thanks for the feedback guys.

all of those things considered...i beleive following a "natural" lighting schedule being the most important and easiest to control...the rest of it you just try and do your best as a guideline...nice size tent you got there:thumbsup:

You will have your best results cloning with the lowest branches as they have more of the hormones to perpetuate.
Also it will stress the plant less as usual plant growth will kill off the bottom as it grows.

Please...for the benefit of all in here, show some proof of this statement. Hearsay isn't admitted in court for a good reason. It's a way to spread factless bullshit.

Every single strain, every single lady is a potential hermie. It's a self-preservation technique cannabis has mastered over the past 10,000 years. (or so) In the event of an emergency, she can self-pollinate to continue the strain.

If you are parroting bad info, and can't back up your statement with biological fact, likely you should keep your opinion to yourself. In my years (decades) of gardening experience, properly femmed seeds have no more incidence of hermaphrodism than 'normal' seeds.

I'd much sooner blame newbies for hermaphrodism. It's an easy explination, and likely true.
