Don't let the Sacramento City Council shut down dispensaries!!!
I was watching a special on msnbc I believe and they were talking about the dispensaries in Oakland, which aren't allowed to make a profit....enough to funnel back into supply for the business, and covering expenses to maintain their place of business.
I've only lived in California for a few years and never ran into $20-30 1/8th's, I can't smoke the red bud here, its horrible quality, no offense!! The cheapest I've ever payed was $45 and that was a one time thing. The dealer I use to have is the equivalent of what my gf is getting now through the dispensaries minus a few dollars. It's better quality, you know what your getting, and its safe access.
California is very liberal that's why I moved here from Texas, but I think that once the med. marijuana laws get enacted here, there never properly planned.
Are there any dispensaries near schools here in Sac?
Are permits given to dispensaries in order to operate? If so why would they give permits to dispensaries if their are in a zone that they feel is inappropriate?
I hope there is better organization and a vision for things to run smoothly with AB390.
Just Tax the Dispensary's like they do in Oakland, the city makes a profit!!

The law and Leg meeting usually starts at 3PM on Tuesdays. On January 19th the meeing is starting at 2PM. If you want to attend the meeting to show support, we are all meeting in front of City Hall at 1:30pm. We are going to meet outside City Hall, in between the new and old City hall. NOT ME, the stuff i grow is as good (if not better in some cases) than any club meds and for a extremely small fraction of what they charge.
i figure if someone ever opens up one of those "dispensaries" and actually charges street prices, they will take all the others business away, cause the other shops wouldnt have a choice except to either reduce their prices or fold up shop.
i to know where you can get killer stuff for half ( and even less" than those "shops " charge. im in shasta, and know of places in redding, oroville, chico,ect.....MMMMMMMMMMMM!....YUMMY!

Shasta man you forget to metion all of the expenses that a dispensary has that street drug dealers do not. Do drug dealers pay for rent? Do drug dealers pay for utilities? Do drug dealers pay a for $1,000,000.00 liability insurance policy. Do they pay for workmans comp insurance? Does a drug dealer pay for health insurance for his employees? Do drug dealers pay 8.75% sales tax? Do they pay federal and state taxes? Do they donate money to the ASA? Do they give medicine away to patients that can't afford it but really need it? You make it sound like the dispensaries are just raking in the profits. Well that is just not true. The numbers that you listed above are not correct at leatst at my dispensary, which is a non profit corporation. I do not pre way my medicine. After I dispense a pound to my members I always come up short by at least an ounce. Think about this. Lets say there are 200 transactions per pound. We never weigh our medicine under, it is always weighed over. Lets say .2 of a gram over. If you multiply that by 200 you get 40 grams. Very rarley when we get a pound do we have a pound of sellable medicine. There is shake that we do not sell in our medicine. So let say 10 grams of shake per pound when we get it. So now we are up to 50 grams. When the medicine is handed out over a period of time, more shake is made. We store our medicine in jars, about 2 ozs per jar. At the end of the jar there is at least 1 if not 2 garms of shake. At this point we are over 2 oz's short of a pound.
Lets talk about pricing. Again your numbers are not correct at least at my dispensary. Right noew we have 1/8's ranging from $35 to $50. That is a lot less than the $60 an eight that you mentioned above. You need to re-think your posistion on the dispensaries. I know that there are some bads ones out there, but most of them are good, and not getting rich serving the needs of their patients.
Thanks

no, i dont need to "rethink" my position. as a former small business owner (i was a firearms dealer and gunsmith for over 20 years, sop believe me theres NOTHING you can tell me insurance wise) i can tell you that liability insurance, rent, electricity do NOT add up to the whole ball of wax most dispensaries rake in. no, street level dealers dont try to "front" legality like the dispensaries do. even if we take the high end $50 bucks an eighth and figure it instead of the $60 ( which most charge) it still breaks down to:
8 1/8thsx$50=$400 an ounce
16 oz X $400 (an ounce)= $6400 an lb (if you worked a 40 hour week for this that would be around $120 bucks AN HOUR)
say you sell 2lbs a week+$12,800
$12,800x4 weeks=$51,200 bucks A MONTH
THATS $614,400 A YEAR
so dont try to blow smoke up my ass or anyone elses and tell me that it costs you over $51,000 a MONTH (or even HALF THAT) to operate a dispensary, thats a crock of shit. executives at general motors only make around $120,000-$200,000 a year. the figures dont lie
even if you only sold 1lb a week at YOUR prices, thats still $25,600 a month, or $307,200 a year.....
point being in all of this, dont try to lead everyone to believe your not making money hand over fist off of them. those totals above were figured off the amounts YOU posted. thing is, it scares most of you guys who are running these places when the figures come out for two reasons. one, youd rather the powers that be not realize how much your making, and second, if more people knew , there would be so much competition out there, youd be unable to stay in business

and i doubt very seriously if your paying for HALF of the stuff you listed, and any donations your making arent even in the picture. you still get the tax breaks, ect for donations.....
