Excuses Excuses

If I was caught red handed I would say: "I'm smoking pot in order to cope with the 30 dead children in my basement..."

But seriously though it depends on how busted I was. If I was in the process of smoking a joint or something and my parents literally just walked in on me puffing it, then the only excuse I could come up with is that it helps with my art projects in school and is the reason why I have a 3.5 gpa.

But if I was caught because my eyes were red or because of the smell I would definitely deny deny deny by coming up with plausible excuses like "my eyes are red because I just cried and I'm going through a lot right now which I'd rather not discuss".

My parents never caught me, I straight out told them. My sister got caught, so I decided if I talked to them about it and what it is, they would understand.

Other then that, it depends on who is catching me. I would probably just tell them I choose it because it is safer then alcohol and doesn't leave you hungover the next day. Not to mention it doesn't make you do stupid shit, just forget shit.

If ever caught, I would simply say...Want a hit?:rasta:

I admit I smoke and im proud that im responsible and it helps my depression and if they are rational I try to explain my situation if they seem like the type that dislikes rational discourse, I don't bother explaining they are cut out of my life :P

I often tell people it prevents me remembering where I buried the Uzis and therefore saves hundreds of lives.. ;) :D

Haha same here. I would still try and keep it on the dl to be polite but if they ever asked if I was high when I came home Id be like "yup! :D" hahaha

As far as parents go, the explanations vary depending on what your parents are like. I just told mine all the real reasons I smoke, emphasizing the most responsible seeming reasons, which happened to be my main reasons.

My mind is a whirlwind of tangents, cross-references, random subjects, introspection, abstract conceptualization, and all around absurdity. Smoking weed is my coping skill that allows me to reach the meditative mindset I need to take control of the maelstrom. When Im in the zone I can break anything down to its smallest point and then break that in half; or adversely to zoom out of one perspective and visualize many different perspectives at once.. i.e. "the big picture." It calms me down and allows me to rationalize my thought process, as well as helps me to develop a peaceful and empathetic mindset that, with practice, I am able to transfer to my sober frame of mind. In other words, I can see all of my faults and work on them in an accellerated format to better myself when my time for smoking weed is past.

In actuality, although I wrote that last paragraph in the present tense, I have achieved those goals. I still smoke, but occassionally for pleasure and relaxation. I have found peace, and a better life. Although to be fair, most of my peace can be attributed to a very special female friend of mine.

Long story short, it helps you realize how to be a better person and to successfully apply those changes. Come up with several examples and have them well rehearsed though.. parents arent usually stupid, but they often want references :P

I don't think my parents ever figured it out and I never told them to this day. My son was pretty up front about it and although I would have preferred he wait until he was out of HS, I didn't make a big deal about it but just advised him to be careful and stay away from cops, chemicals and man made things. In other words, don't be stupid about it. His mother was not so pleased and still worries about it even though he's in his 20's and has since moved out and bought a house. All part of being a mom.
