#1 Always good to find an "out of towner" landlord...I have seen mine 3 times in 5 years. Always has called 24 hours prior if not a week to two weeks in advance before coming. To do this simply ask the prospective landlord "so where are you living now." If they say around the corner then probably not a good idea!!
#2 Usually landlords respect their tenants privacy, if you keep that type of relationship. Make sure that the landlord does not use the property as his personal storage space, or store anything there for that matter!!
#3 Keep your property clean as a whistle,, inside and out..And dont go making holes all over when hanging up your lights!!!
#4 Find a property prefereably out in the country on some acres and invest in great carbon scrubbers.
People always freak out over growing on a rental property but can't they take your house if you are caught growing in it??? I would rather burn a bridge with a landlord than get my hard earned home taken!!!
You should be fine if you follow these rules. It has worked for me..
Good advice in this thread.
Rent your home and live there for a while to get a sense for things BEFORE you set up your grow. How are your relationships with neighbors and landlord? Does anyone seem overly interested in you? Does the landlord visit often? Does your Mom want to stop over for tea and to see her baby's new house?
Once it quiets down into a routine, THEN think about how to arrange things.
Find a place with a cellar.... REALLY. Visitors are unlikely to want to go see your furnace, but might be suspicious if you refuse to show them your 'home office' that stays locked at all times.
thanks for all the help guys!
it really makes a frustrating overall process a lot easier when people constantly post up suggestions and help.
knowing that everyone else was in my shoes at one point is a great motivator ;-)
just grow in ur apartment if ur legal,no problem make it small then bubble up like 7-up....
if u live in a state where there is no programs for MMJ, and if i was u, i would never ever ever risk growing in any kind of rental unit, no matter what!
remember that rental unit is NOT YOUR property, so certain things change in relation with privacy.
however as for properly papered MMJ patients and states, i think others above gave u enough info or can give u more if needed, i live in a stone-age state in regards to anything concerning marijuana!!
I dont have the resources to move to humboldt ;-o
My "dream" is to move there after I finish my 2nd grow, and do it legally.
I feel the need to mention that in a small town, police are MORE of an issue than they are when you have the anonymity of a larger city, or a town where the local cops are happily busy chasing 'those dang kids smokin those funny cigarettes behind the gas station'. Having lived in small towns, and grown to LOATHE it, people are NOSY with a capital everything. Give me a big town with an active community of cool people any day... be known when you want, and vanish when you don't.
hey I know the feeling of living in a rental and wanting to grow. It is hard but not impossible. You might want just to grow a small amount in a lockable portable grow cabinet
good ass point stinky ;-PQuote:

but the rent in those rural areas is like, $500 a month for a fenced in home. 500 a month out here is a one way ticket to a 1 way efficiency in the projects or ghetto.
