    growing in a rental home

    Hey everyone.

Im currently shopping around for a house to live and grow in for about 6 months. Its going to be in a very small southern town, so police arent much of a concern, but I was wondering if anyone has experience in renting out a home to grow in.

I plan on changing the locks to the grow room obv, and taking extra smell precautions, but I was just wondering what everyone's .02 on this is, and if they had any advice / personal experience.

I was initially going to just grow in my apartment, but decided it was a bad idea on many levels. I cant afford a house, so I feel renting is the next best thing.

man i wish i could afford to live in humboldt.

    advice?

not cool, unless your landlord gave you permission ... also, the landlord has legal right to demand copies of your new door keys, and access to your home, in case of emergency (to see if water is leaking, gas on, etc.) ... :smokin:

If you live in a state its legal in, and you have a card, stay with-in states conditions, and keep your shit clean. Then i'd say its cool either way, with or without landlords permission.
Its Johnny Law you dont want to get tied up with. Whats a lease or a contract! fuck that noise. If you cant answer yes to other the above IMO's then NO dont grow in a rental.. FUCK that shit. Even with cool landlords, its a rental and you never know what the landlord would do if HE/SHE got in a serious pinch themselves for ANYTHING, DUI, HIT and RUN, shit anything can happen.

    Warning!
    IMO

small southern town?? I live in a town of 2200ppl in rural south Mississippi. I would highly recommend against renting a house to grow in... you will have the same restrictions and problems that you do in an apartment, with the addition of nosey neighbors.

*IF* you really want to do this, then you need to be looking at maybe finding a trailer on some land out in the county to buy, then you can build a grow shed with no problem.

Just make sure that you don't have a lot of folks coming and going all the time... thats a big red flagfor the cops that there is something going on. The notes on a trailer that sits on a couple of acres should be the same or less than what your paying for rent, and there is something to be said for ownership. If you do opt for buying a place... make sure that you get it on a *FIXED RATE* mortgage.

well, my main concern was that the landlord may check up on the house every once in a while. but i am not sure how that works, since i've never rented a home.

I also know that a lot of homeowners rent out homes while they are out of state, just to have their mortgage paid for them, and they don't come unannounced to snoop in their tenant's home. anyways, thanks for the replies, keep em comin!!

talk to the landlord before you sign anything. my landlord will not come into our house unless we call and explicatly ask him to stop over, even then he parks in the driveway and calls our cell phone before knocking on the door, REALLY awesome guy.

other landlords have stoppen in unannounced to spray for bugs and whatnot.

if you have a person like that, you might want to find a better place.

^ yeah....thats what I was thinking.....I'm just not sure how I am going to go about discussing privacy and everything in an innocent way.....i'm sure it will present itself one way or another. I was thinking of saying I was going to have a sick / elderly family member living with me and that she needs extra privacy or something like that. Or I just have to make it a point to find one with an out of town owner....I'm not worried about them coming to the house, I just don't want them going in that one room.

Tell them you like to walk around in the nude when at home, have lots of girlfriends or something of a sort.

But either way you can't have the landlord / homeowner come visiting with an illegal grow op in THEIR house that you're RENTING. It's easier for them to call the fuzz so that they don't have their house taken cause they knew of it or whatever.

You might want to repost this question in the Legal section if you're still pondering the idea.
