I respect the Republicans staying to discuss energy solutions despite Pelosi turning the lights out on them. It's very symbolic... I'm so pissed off at the Speaker in perticular and the government in general!
Shockingly, Bush is gaining a lot more respect from me as he nears the end of his term.
Pelosi turning the lights out on them? They should be out campaigning in their home state, where some of the republican seats are in jeopardy. You are right in the fact it's merely symbolic if you'd thought they all the sudden halt discussions. No one is taking a leisure vacation. It gives both parties more time to research to fully assess the current crisis. It's not a decision to be rushed, given that gas prices for the moment have dropped with Bush's announcement.Quote:

And for those people who are talking about a 300lb Car. The electric car was used in California produced by GM. It was called the EV1. Ford had a similar car called the THiNK I think.. lol The state of california had mandated that 10% of all vehicles sold between something like 1996-2002 (don't quote me on this.. those years are most likely wrong but it was something around this time frame I think). The car looked very much like a Geo Storm and could get up to 120 miles per charge I believe.

We do have the infrastructure for Natural Gas. Natural Gas vehicles emit 30% less pollution that Gasoline motors and 23% less emissions than diesel. On top of that we have an ENORMOUS amount of natural gas reserves.
We have like 4 natural Gas filling stations in the area that I live in. It's unfortunate that more NGV vehicles are not being sold as we try to make this transition.
