Hell, an old girlfriend of mine and her daughters were going to Mexico for a wedding. They FIRST went to the doctor proclaiming that they had such a fear of flying that they needed an "airline downer" to ease the anxiey. Well, they all got their pill for the flight down and one for the flight back. On the way to the airport the "big joke" was how fucked up they'd all be after their stop at the airport bar mixed with their pill.
I know that a toking lounge is FAR off but what an idea.
Have a good one!
I hear you totally. There's situations like this everywhere even in my own personal life. One time at work I had a magic cookie I baked not realizing that I overdosed my butter. Well needless to say I was pretty messed up at work but I was still coherent. Everyone could tell something was wrong so I told them that I had just taken a bunch of Unisom last night, still didn't sleep, and was groggy and hazy from the over the counter drug.
Funny how it was acceptable to them if I started tripping on some OTC medicine but heaven forbid that I say cannabis.
My main fear is that proposals like these actually make us look bad and be counter productive. It's hard enough to make advancement as it is since we've had 70 years of government propaganda telling everyone that it is SOOOOOOOOOO wrong for you. There is quite a bit of prejudice against us.
Cannabis prejudice is similar to prejudice against blacks in this country (no where on the same level but the situations are similar) in that there is a vast amount of ignorance surrounding Cannabis and it will take Time to get people to change and realize that there is no harm in it. Even with the civil rights movement started it took some 14-15 years of protesting and trying to get rights.
Let's hope that cannabis has similar success.

I just have to say that it makes me feel good to see/read so many level heads here! Thoughtful, and intelligent people seem to be in short supply in the public perception of people that use cannabis medically or otherwise. I have to say that I was surprised at the responses, (not at the obviously predictable ones) but the more rational ones. I have nothing really to contribute to the post that hasn't already been clearly said.
It's nice to see that if I am a freak because of my views/beliefs, that at least I am not alone. At least on this discussion anyway!
Kudos to almost all of you!
Perception is manageable, and is vital to progress for normalizing cannabis use in this day and age, and there are obviously some fine, like minded folks here doing their part!:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

You're right. Perception is key to making advancements for the MMJ cause and even legalizing it for all.
I am a very successful person and while I won't say my accomplishments, net worth or any of those things on the board I will say that I am definitely more successful than the majority of the US population (if you judge success by position, salary, large accomplishments, lifestyle and contribution to the community an those in need). I've worked very hard to get where I'm at, but at the same time I smoke cannabis.
However i don't announce to the world that I smoke and I don't act like a stoner either. The reason being is that if I ever want change to occur I need to be above the perceptions that people have of cannabis. If I play into their stereotypes then all I've done is justified their ignorance of the herb.
We all need to do our part to show people that Cannabis is not bad. It is not responsible for harsh crimes that are commited, it does not mean that you're lazy and it especially does not mean that your memory is horrible and that your brain is rotting. We need to show people that we are informed and responsible people.
The best way to do this is to become organized and help other states adopt MMJ; and then try to push for legalization for everyone. When cannabis is able to become an every day occurence due to being MMJ legal then everyone in the states is bound to know someone who's smoking for medical reasons and prejudice will go down. That's when we should make proposals for casual smoking.
Until that happens any "legalize it for all" or really very radical proposals like the one in this article will be smacked down without any hesitation.
We must all act as ambassadors of the cannabis community and not as radical drug enthusiasts.

I don't think I've ever been in a plane and not been stoned , even when I was the pilot .:D

great topic!
i dont really agree with a smoking lounge. I still think discretion is key. I personally never fly without some good edibles. no one knows anything but me!
