Paul's issue with Huckabee's Christmas ad: 'Fascism' will be 'carrying a cross'
This story as been around for awhile now and I'm surprised it took you so long to pick up on it. I have no proof yet of this but, from what I've read Ron Paul didn't write that article from his "Ron Paul Political Report", a staffer did.
I don't care who gave him money, just as long as it was given legally. Free speech is free speech, even if you don't agree with the views.
Government and Racism
by Ron Paul
The controversy surrounding remarks by talk show host Don Imus shows that the nation remains incredibly sensitive about matters of race, despite the outward progress of the last 40 years. A nation that once prided itself on a sense of rugged individualism has become uncomfortably obsessed with racial group identities.
The young women on the basketball team Mr. Imus insulted are over 18 and can speak for themselves. Itā??s disconcerting to see third parties become involved and presume to speak collectively for minority groups. It is precisely this collectivist mindset that is at the heart of racism.
Itā??s also disconcerting to hear the subtle or not-so-subtle threats against free speech. Since the FCC regulates airwaves and grants broadcast licenses, weā??re told itā??s proper for government to forbid certain kinds of insulting or offensive speech in the name of racial and social tolerance. Never mind the 1st Amendment, which states unequivocally that, ā??Congress shall make NO law.ā?
Letā??s be perfectly clear: the federal government has no business regulating speech in any way. Furthermore, government as an institution is particularly ill-suited to combating bigotry in our society. Bigotry at its essence is a sin of the heart, and we canā??t change peopleā??s hearts by passing more laws and regulations.
In fact it is the federal government more than anything else that divides us along race, class, religion, and gender lines. Government, through its taxes, restrictive regulations, corporate subsidies, racial set-asides, and welfare programs, plays far too large a role in determining who succeeds and who fails in our society. This government "benevolence" crowds out genuine goodwill between men by institutionalizing group thinking, thus making each group suspicious that others are receiving more of the government loot. This leads to resentment and hostility between us.
The political left argues that stringent federal laws are needed to combat racism, even as they advocate incredibly divisive collectivist policies.
Racism is simply an ugly form of collectivism, the mindset that views humans strictly as members of groups rather than individuals. Racists believe that all individuals who share superficial physical characteristics are alike: as collectivists, racists think only in terms of groups. By encouraging Americans to adopt a group mentality, the advocates of so-called "diversity" actually perpetuate racism. Their obsession with racial group identity is inherently racist.
The true antidote to racism is liberty. Liberty means having a limited, constitutional government devoted to the protection of individual rights rather than group claims. Liberty means free-market capitalism, which rewards individual achievement and competence, not skin color, gender, or ethnicity.
More importantly, in a free society every citizen gains a sense of himself as an individual, rather than developing a group or victim mentality. This leads to a sense of individual responsibility and personal pride, making skin color irrelevant. Rather than looking to government to correct our sins, we should understand that racism will endure until we stop thinking in terms of groups and begin thinking in terms of individual liberty.

Personally, for Ron Paul to call Huchabee a facist based on this vid is ridiculous! If this thing was turned around I can think of at least 5 people in here that would be livid regarding the statement.:wtf:
Have a good one!:s4:
Ron Paul called Huckabee a fascist? I don't know what you are smoking, but I want a hit! :stoned:

He didn't come right out and say "Huckabee is a facist", but he SURE did imply it! Let G.W. make a statement of this order on the Iranian President once.......the same people in here defending Ron Paul would be outraged.

Yeah, Huckabee is a real religious man. Him and his family always take the moral high ground, and look to god for guidance. Jesus, does anyone believe the utter bullshit he spews? Huckabees obese son admited to finding a stray dog. Does he feed it, try and find it shelter? No. He admited to hanging it, slits its throats just enough so it doesn't die right away, and slowly stones it to death.
This man raises irresponsible sadistic oafs as children, and people want him to run the country? :what:
The only reason the media is pushing this pig is because if he does win the GOP nomination - The democrats will win in a landslide could very well be 50-0. This man makes Rudy look like a saint. His son has gotten into trouble with the law countless times, for sadistic violent acts such as torturing animals. He pardons serial rapists - who begin murdering the day they get out of prison, he raises taxes to give illegal aliens free instate tuition. I could literally go on and on.
What has this country come to?

Huckabee lobbied a parole board to get a convicted rapist out of prison. He then went on to rape and murder two women.

He didn't call him a fascist....If you watch the whole video, you'll see Fox took what he said out of context. YouTube - Ron Paul on Fox & Friends (PT.1of2) 12-18-07 that's the full interview on Fox.
"We had a guest on a little while ago that thought it was inappropriate to be using religion for political purposes. What do you think of that?" This is the question he was referring to.
YouTube - Ron Paul on Mickelson 1 he explains it himself here.

You can put frosting on a dog terd too but don't tell me that it's a birthday cake. This is the type of answer you'd expect from a "politician"...plain and simple.

Hm...Nope. It was an answer I thought was obvious after seeing the whole video. I watched the Mickelson video afterwards, and it confirmed I was right. It's not the answer I'd expect coming from a politician, considering it was truthful. "huckabee is a fascist" was not even remotely implied. Watch the first video in my first reply to you and you'll see that. Don't only watch the second.
I'll say it again "We had a guest on a little while ago that thought it was inappropriate to be using religion for political purposes. What do you think of that? (this question is asking 'what do you think of using religion for political purposes')" This is the question he was referring to....Not "do you think huckabee is a fascist?"
It's sad when someone must stoop this low to find SOMETHING bad about ron paul.:D

::sigh:: I guess some people will never learn. You obviously haven't read any of my posts, and your links provide no information backing up your argument (though I'm not sure you have an argument to back up at this point, as your position has been disproven). The other users posting in this thread seem to understand your credibility on this issue though. I guess I can leave this one alone from now on. Have a good one!
