oh shit. i thought they were ok once the temps stay above freezing? does anyone think id be ok to start LSTing now? Theyre just starting theyre 5th set of leaves but the stems arent elongating at all, what the craic there? how can u encourage elongation? and what does it mean when the petioles and underside of the leaves have a purple colour?

You are going to need some good ventilation in there in the summer. You will not be able to keep going as is when it hits 130 in your attic. I think you will also need a small heater for during lights out in the cold parts of winter. You don't want a temp shift between day and night of more than 15 degrees. Plants will not die from cold unless they freeze. They can get stressed and appear to almost stop growing from it, and the colder it is the slower they grow. Your plants are too small to start tying down at this point. Wait about another 2 weeks probably. You can encourage elongation by pulling your light back farther. Also blue light encourages bushy growth while red light encourages taller spindly growth. Purple color means nothing unless it is on all of them. Many strains are purplish. If it is on all or most of them than it is a nutrient problem, but not sure what. I've often had purple stems and parts of leaves and buds on my AK-47, but not so much on my blueberry x northern lights (but a little).
Good luck. Looking pretty good so far.

Thanks for the comments opie,
venting at the moment isnt a problem, i have a PC fan for intake but i dont turn it on usually because it sucks in cold air and lowers temps. In the summer i'll be doing a lot of guerilla growing (hopefully with the seeds off my Lowryders) but if i am growing up ther i'll just add another PC fan for extraction, our summers are usually mild here anyway. I hear space heaters are pretty heavy on electricity but it may be my only option if i want a good yield. I saw 40W 'warming pads'' being adverised, its like a mini electric blanket but mightnt give off enough heat. I must try and get my paws on a bit of insulation aswell.

Yeah those pads work pretty well. Propagation pad? Heat mat? They don't get very warm, I think they are mostly designed to sit under some propagation trays, or grow cups.
Insulation IMO is probably the best bet. The more the better, but that creates a higher need for ventilation. For example, I have a nice triple wide Super Good Cents home, and we would suffocate if we did not run a whole-house fan.

No fan? Not exactly a good thing but...
Contrary to popular belief this shouldn't be that big of an issue as long as you have significant ventilation for C02 replenishment. If your ventilation is poor then you will kill every plant you have quickly.
I would DEFINITLY try to get one though. A fan will help out tremendously!

Wow, it looks a lot more green in there since 7 days ago.

Ye they really shot up in the last week, probably because temps were a bit higher .its getting pretty tight for space at the moment but after I take out the males I should be ok.Whats the general male to female ratio by the way? Man I cant wait for these babies to start flowering!

I've found that the seeds I order usually have a higher percentage of females. Maybe 65% or something.

so far, 6 of the lowryders are showing sex (5 female, 1 male) The rest of the bigger ones are still doing fine, no signs of flowreing yet. Im gonna pollinate one or two of the LRs and for my next grow i'll pack the place full of LRs. Maybe even on 2 shelves. So how many weeks do LR flower for, 6?? does anyone think i could start cloning trhe bigger ones now? im still not cirulating the air but i am dissolving C02 tabs every day in there and seems to be doing the trick.:)
