Chi is universal energy within each and everyone of us, in ancient Egypt, this form of energy of called "Ka".
The cream of qi gong practices can be found at Michael Winn's website--check out the Primordial qi gong (cheap--25 bucks for the DVD) and his standing practices. Very easy but profound practices.
Gandalf, seeing this thread makes me oddly happy. I have been advocating Tai Chi and Qigong for a few months now hardcore, and I was hoping you would take an interest in it. When I do sitting Qigong meditations in my apartment, I usually sit next to the AC vent and turn it up. I exude so much energy that the AC actually ends up blasting non stop, but the whole apartment manages to stay hot. It will cool down again if I stop meditating, and then blast the AC for like 20 to 40 minutes, but thats still amazing. Id like to see a birds-eye thermal view of my entire one-floor apartment building. I am willing to bet during the winter, during periods of meditation, I could save on heating bills by sucking the energy from surrounding units.
In both Tai Chi, and Qigong, the key to everything is the breathing. You will never grasp the full benefit until you have perfected your breathing technique. Then will you understand the essence of Qigong.
