    Qigong healing techniques

I've really taken an interest in Qigong meditation lately, and I'm wondering what you guys think of this guy? The demonstrations are indeed imperssive, but I generally have a policy of remaining skeptical about anything. Do you think he's legit, or a magician?

As for Qigong itself, I believe in the method, not the theory. I personally believe "chi" is a primitive understanding of the nervous system, and that by channling chi what you are actually doing is controling the energy flow within your own nervous system. I've praticed it for a few days now and have gained some very definite results. It's amazing how much qigong meditation energizes me really.

Man... that video is amazing! Seeing that man putting that paper on fire just using his chi was awesome!!! Its the dream of every child (like me) who was raised watching cartoons like dragon ball z, saint seiya, and so...
Anyway... its nice to see that things like that are indeed possible... its a great incentive for keep learning and training meditation and related things.
    Thanks for the video!

Qigong can help practioners to learn Diaphragmatic breathing, an important component of the relaxation response, which is important in combatting stress.
This looks like good 'hiccup' prevention.

Well... ive a question. I started to train some techniques to concentrate "energy", "psi", "chi", or whatever its called in the so-called "solar plexus", navel chackra, or whatever. I feel a weird thing, but dont know if its what im supposed to feel.
It feels like that feeling in the stomach we get when were anxious... sometimes its like a restlessness, a small discomfort... sometimes its like my heart (not exactly the heart, but an area below it) were very chill, sometimes is like the "pain in the heart" we feel when are very very sad (when my gf leaved me, for example)... in fact, what i feel is a mixture of all it, and more some things that i cant describe... i only can say its not a very enjoyable feeling... so, does its "chi","psi",or whatever?

Personally, I don't think what you're experiencing is any kind of "chi" energy. In my personal experience, meditation makes your subconscious become as visible as your conscious. Sometimes if I'm dealing with a lot of stressors and worries, meditating makes it all come out, makes me stop repressing. Do you think this could be happening to you?

A note on successful qigong meditaiton, I've found the most success by using the navel or heart chakra as a center point for the energy to draw from. Then, try not focusing on feelng the energy in a particular point, but opening yourself up to letting the energy flow through you from an entrance point to an exist point. Don't try to hold it in one spot. This takes a bit longer to grasp, but the results are much more impressive, at least for me.

Well... basically i do what you said you do... ive read more, and im almost sure that the weird thing i feel can actually be "chi". Ive read some descriptions of it, and they are similar enought to what i feel.
Anyway... i think i understand what "to indulge in the dark side of the force" means... like... ive noticed that when i concentrate in some negative emotion (mainly anger), i feel a surge of energy at the navel area... as more i concentrate in my fury, more intense is this energy. For me, its far easier (and effective) than visualizing the energy going calmly and happily into my body... i always was given to bursts of rage, and they seems to help me concentrating energy.
As said in star wars, the dark side is far easier, and now i understand very well why... :vader1:
I hope that i overcome this... i dont want to become a evil one...

lol, don't worry Coelho, you're a good guy at heart . The "dark side" is easier, yes, but all it accomplishes is an indulgence in primitive emotions/instincts. The really surpass ones base nature and control the mind, rather than have the mind control you, the path of peace, clarity, and control is the way you want to go.

Meditation cultivates whatever it is you feed. That's all I can tell you.

Yes... i think youre right... even if im given to bursts of rage, i cant keep angry for much time... soon my better nature (or the effects of many years of weed) kicks in, and the anger goes away... even cause, as you said, being angry is just to indulge in primitive emotions...
So, there is still some hope...

Chi is real, I've experienced it first-hand, and I used to practice "energy work." I've gotten a bit out of it, however. It's real. If you focus the chi up from your dan tien into your palm for long enough, and focus it to become dense, you can feel a magnetic-type feeling (for some), and, well, it's a bit hard to explain. Try it before you deny it.

It's all about visualization, and 'feeling'. If you become advanced enough, you can use tactile visualization to feel it out, instead of simply visualizing it in your mind's eye. This allows for very efficient work. In that video, nobody is going to be able to do what that guy does without decades of intense training. What he did with the piece of paper, that's called pyrokinesis.

I agree with palerider, anything and everything is possible. Look at what's coming into view with quantum physics now. We're all energy anyway. What makes non-believers so sure that it's impossible to be able to manipulate chi energy, when in fact, we are made from energy. The reason is simple: most have never considered it, let alone tried it out with some seriousness involved.
