I have tried different lighting periods ... my plants seem MUCH happier with 18/6 ... they need the dark hours ... if 24 suits you, go for it ... I will stay at 18/6 ... :smokin:
I have never run an auto strain. If you are talking about cloning lowryder etc, don't bother, it's not a viable prop option for an auto strain.Quote:

patience is one of the most important virtues of maximizing how fast your crop grows
when you run the lights for 24h a day you should be making auto-flowering plants. Do you have any plants in veg over 3-4 months that you grew from seed this way? I think it's the same for clones too I'll have to read up on it.Quote:

Until then, I will continue 24/0 and 12/12, although I may give 18/6 a try in order to foliar spray my plants in the dark period, which is a no-no if you're running your lights 24/0.

I have done both, many times. 18/6 is the way to go. But what Ive started doing now is I use 24/0 when seedlings or clones are rooting. Then I switch it to 18/6 after they get about 3 sets of leaves. I have two major isues with 24/0 that made me not use it the entire veg after a few grows. I noticed that the roots seemed alot smaller and filled the 5 gal pot up less then when I had it on 18/6. Also I had a much better F/M ratio when I did not use 24/0 the entire veg. When I did 24/0 i got about 50% - 60% female, and when I did 18/6 it was more like 75% - 80% female. I may have just got lucky, but those are my observations. laterz..

I agree, roots mostly grow at night more roots = more food and water = more growth ie buds.

I get fabulous roots under 24h.
Your root vigor is largely dependent upon soil lightness and oxygenation.
I recently did a test where I put newly-rooted clones in rapidrooters into party cups full of very light compost/perlite mix. The roots hit the sides of the cups in 2 days under 24h light. No complaints here!
