I have always used 24h right from seed.
I have seen no evidence that points to stress, and I am happy with my F/M ratios- always over 50%F.
Sorry I can't be more helpful- never tried 18/6.

Increasing the amount of hours the plant is getting can stress the plant. If you're going to do 24/0, do it from the start. Then decrease from there. It's a cycle plant meaning that as it ages it matures into its next cycle. Reversing that cycle can confuse the plant and depending on genetics and circumstances (like heat, nutrients, etc.) it can stress the plant to grow male flowers. Avoid increasing the hours of light and only decrease it as this will simulate the end of the season.

    Hope this helps,
    Bob.

Leave it where you started. Definitely. Consistency in lighting is important to cannabis.

I agree. Having used the 24hour (t2.4kW-HPS) light method from the start of vegging clones for little over 1 week, as soon as I turned the lights down to 18/6 they grew very quickly and gave me many nodes and inter-nodes as a result. It may not work for everyone and running MH/HPS all day and night is not cost effective unless you are aware of what you are doing as not to waste all ones' money on the bill. I work with clones to ensure they are female, therefore unless I do something drastically wrong they shouldn't herm up. Good luck

I found the same thing home-grower. My plants seemed to do much better with a six hour dark period. I did try 24/0 but was not as pleased with the results as much as going with 18/6. That's what I'm sticking with from now on.

Well, plants do their chemical processes during the dark period I guess, and they also do most of their growing during the night cycle. So 24hrs of light won't display much changes until the lights are dropped. 1 week of 24 hrs of light, then dropping to 18/6 showed me the most vegetative growth as a combined method. 24hrs of light didn't show me any significant plant development untill 18/6. I reckon the plants were storing a shed load of energy up to saturation point, then 18/6 allowed them to do grow strong, fast and quick.
