my apologies, BirdGirl, I just now, noticed this thread ... I didn't even know you were in the hospital ... I do hope all went well, and you never see another hospital
Thanks, kids, for the warm welcome. All seems to be well. I'm a little tired of people--like my parents, mostly--being oversolicitous and saying things like, "C'mon, hun, why don't you go easy on that for now?" and encouraging me to take it easy instead of simply do what I feel like doing. I felt like vacuuming earlier and my plans were quickly interrupted. I love them for all being concerned, but ortho-neuro surgery is a much different thing these days for most youngish, healthy people. We get well fast and we can tolerate a lot more post-operative activity than the old-style "slow recuperators" realize. Tomorrow, my parents are going home even if I have to get in the car and drive them to their door themselves. Which, of course, I won't be allowed to do since I'm in a neck brace and there's no driving for four weeks.
Thanks, Image Reaper. Yep, had two bad discs removed and vertebrae in my neck rebuilt and fused together. I hope to see no more hospitals soon, either. At least till I go to work in one!
