Good Rhiz about e-mail...;) ......the company doesn't specify but based on that statement alone its probably not sensi then.....
I'm REALLY starting to see the importance of good and stable breeding..... And I honestly NEVER thought I would say that but I AM finding it to make a difference. :wtf: :)
Iff'n it was House of Sensi, they'd be letting ya know...
White Label ( Sensi's budget line) MK's an F1- sounds like somebody ran it off and released the F2- if you paid less than $7 US per seed, it's a knockoff...
If I'm right, yer seeing classic pheno variation in the F2 gen-
Should point out that the very nice individual that you've already cut would not have existed in the F1- F2 is often the gen to select moms from, if you're in a position to flower out (while retaining cuts) enough individuals to find the very special freaks:thumbsup:
But if ya wanna know what yer getting before ya even get the seed wet-
Not so much.
I'm always kinda skeptical of seed vendor/ breeder claims- Only a very few of the older houses breed on a scale that's going to provide any kind of stabilization. Given the relative grey area of the feild in terms of trademark/IP law (people who are already breaking the law of whatever country they're in rarely care about trademarks, and customers rarely sue for damages), there's no good reason for folks to be honest.
F'rinstance, actual MK from Sensi/WL is going to be the progeny of two individuals who have been chosen from a large population and worked in a multiple (100s) cutting system, assuring consistancy. MK from, say, the Rhizome Super Seed Collection is going to be the progeny of whatever I happened to be working with ( certainly not the two parents that Sensi uses- they spent a bunch of cash developing those, and they're not giving them away- unless I'm a real @sshole, and physically stole cuttings from them ( which has happened:wtf:))-
Maybe some MK that I bought from Sensi-
Maybe some MK that I bought from somebody else-
Maybe individuals from the populations that I thought MK's parents hailed from-
Maybe I just have a bunch of labels already printed up that say MK, so I'm just slapping them on whatever's under the couch...-
It's all about the breeder's rep, and how important that rep is to them...
Anyway, long ramble... No offense meant to small breeders, just saying that the nature of small populations makes for difficulty in stabilizing phenotype...Lotta great stuff comes from small houses, but for rock solid repeatability it's hard to beat the folks who work on hundred acre seedplots...
On the other hand, the really crazy elites that get shipped about as " clone only" are almost always from smaller houses- that's where they shine...
Well I think I have to agree with you as far as stability. Part of my problem is that I'm a VERY paranoid soul about buying things off the internet.....and frankly I'm not really talking about seedbanks. I'm talking about your GENERAL ordering off private companies or E-bay or whatever. As a rule that kind of ordering sucks (which is a REAL bummer since I live 1/2 hours's drive away from the nearest supermarket...) so I tend to go with what I know (online) and have had success with in the past.....especially when, as you say Rhiz, your ability to have ANY control over your seed order is pretty nil. Now I am coming to the point that you are talking about where good breeding and stability are becoming a much more important factor for me which is going to make things tougher. Before I just wanted to try all the different things out there (and still do) but with a smaller garden going I don't have the extra plants to grow off in weird directions....I want my grows to be more.....predicatable.
Now I have to go learn about all the breeders........
WH, did you happen to take cuts from the speed demon before she came down? Or are you gonna try to re-veg her? Sounds like an interesting possibility... and you know I like clones so no surprise in my commentary. It would be cool to have a Speeder, or very special freak as Rhizome called 'er, that could flower in 45 days or so...
I gave that some honest thought when Rhiz first suggested it but I rejected the idea based mostly on the fact that I'm just not ready to put together a setup of ANY kind for another plant and am just not willing to do the work involved. I DO like the MK.....but not enough to to create the situation needed to keep the plant or clones. Our house is SOOOO small......and I've already got plants popping out of the spare bedroom AND the living room so I decided I just had to let the opportunity go. :(
Well it was a great experience to live thru (vicariously), so now its a fun story to tell while sitting in front of the campfire passing one around... gone but not forgotten :)
I am still looking for my perfect "baby." I'm dying to try the power plant and ww feminized I've ordered and just wasn't ready to "commit" to one......sigh. i know my hydro guy thinks I'm crazy ("you still grow from seeds? EVERY time?") but I'm just not ready......
My Black Domina is such a beauty, she is my "baby". All of that said, the Super Skunk is less than 2/3 the size of my MK's with at least the same amout of buds...
I think the skunk would be a litte too "smelly" for me but I'm still DYING to try that Black Domina. Got any pics?
Whats the flowering time on that strain and whats the high like?
