Denmark Street, London
Most famous musical street in the world. Used to be home to the studios that recorded bands like the rollin stones.
Loads of guitar shops and other muscial shops.
Well anyway, i went there today with a mate to have a look, and i ended up getting a 2 cabinate Marshall Bass stack with a head for under £2000
The 2 X 4 12" speaker Cabinates were £800 in cash, i got 200 knocked off.
And the 700 watt head was £990
And tonight, around 7ish, or maybe 7:30, cant remember, there was a program on ITV London called "Disappearing London" and it had this street in it, and they were talking about all te old bands who used to perform there, and they talked about the studios that are there now, well, studio, theres only 1 left.
Anyway, it was just a funny coincidence.
And really i didnt need another amp, im not even in a band anymore and im getting a collection. I've got about 5 or 6 now, all stacks apart from 1 combo, and even the combo is a 2 X 15" speaker. Looks more like another cab.

sick. i used to have a marshal combo, it was pretty nice.. it was older, but still sounded great.
im all out of guitar now (you know whats funny is whenever i type guitar, i say every letter in my head, i dont even say the full word in my head.. anyways) i still strum on the bass a little bit, but thats it.. i used to play in a band but im out of that stage now.

I used to be in a band, we was gigging all over and played to big crowds. Was great, and the money we made from it payed the recording studios back, we ended up getting tried though and just pulled the plug before we even released anything. It was all ready to go. We've been on Tv too, and in the papers.
But those days are gone now :(
I kind of miss em. I still made a little profit, and you can guess where that went.

Wow, not a bad price for Marshall's. Especially the head. The 100W heads here alone go for over a $1000. I haven't bothered to check the 700W, if they even have those.
I'm a Fender person myself. I had the choice between a Marshall and a Fender, and I chose the Fender. I found it to be more versatile than Marshall's. I found Marsh. to be limited to one sound, and that's thick, muddy, and chunky. The Fender, with the right guitar, I can crisp and clear with a clean tone, and also mad heavy with the distortion, amp dis. too, no pedals for me.
Keep in mind that's for a guitar though. For a bass guitar, you'd want to be thick and bassy, but for guitar, I find it too thick, you know.
I ended up getting a Princeton Chorus. It has 2 12inch speakers in there, and goes loud as hell. When I play with my band I only turn it up to about 4. Turn it up any higher and it drowns out the other guitar player. It's a tough little bitch and is more than capable of handling a bar/club.

Indeed. When i was playing the gigs i only had the amp on 5. I have DI's on all my amps so as soon as it's plugged into a PA i get everything i need to hear from the monitors.
That brings memories back, it used to take us hours to get the monitors at the right levels. We were really picky lol!
500 watts blasting at you for an hour and a half is rather crazy.

So how come you don't gig anymore with a band? :)
I know for many years I didn't play with anyone simply because there weren't a lot of people out there into the kind of music I was after. That, and when I did meet people, not to sound like a dick, but they sucked and had no rhythem. :p
Now, I've been jamming with 2 other fellows, one sings.guitar/lyric writing, drummer, and me on guitar. It's a lot fun actually. He has been playing for 22 years, so he can solo his ass off, me though, I've been playing for about 15yrs but lead guitar has never interested me. When someone busted out a solo on record, I would always be listening to the background rhythem guitar, not the soloing. So, I was going somehwere with this, oh yes, so he is a good soloist while I provide the rhythem for him to follow, and the drumming too of course.
I've rambled on again. Music does that to me. :o
