Ph question

I just recently switched to hydro, ebb and flow and have a question about ph levels. If i have a barrel of feed and water with a ph of 6.5, can I just add "ph down" to bring the ph down to 5.5 or should I just drain the barrel and start over? I just wanted to make sure because i was told to adjust ph before adding feed.

Just adjust the water with PH down, if then it is a bit too low, just add a bit of your 6.5 until you have it just right.'

I have a 55gallon barrel in ebb and grow. When I change my juice I ph my water to 5.8 than I add my nutes .adjust ph about an hour later back to 5.8 using up or down depending where I am at. I am constantly trying to maintain a 5.8. As long as your between 5.5-6.5 should be ok.
