Will leftover bubble hash greens make butter?
The kids spun a few oz of hash and I looked at all that greenery from the work bag and thought, surely there must be something usable left in there, given that the ice-water bubble bag method is a mechanical rather than a chemical extraction. So when they left I took a few pounds (it's wet now, remember) of the leftover vegetable matter and I've been simmering it down with a few quarts of water and couple pounds of butter to see if any of the unhashed THC could be extracted. I kept it on for about 20 hours, very low heat, wrung it out, and it's chilling in the fridge. Only now I feel silly about the whole experiment and the kids will be back tomorrow. I had a little of the green grease on a tortilla yesterday, and I got a wee mellow off it, but I can't stand getting high, so I can't really test it to see if it was worth all that effort and perfectly good butter. Has anyone ever tried this? How much butter is a reasonable test quantity? I'd give some to the dog, but he really can't give consent, so that doesn't seem quite fair. Should I just throw all this gunk out?

Well... it works.
Good grief.

Yeah, patience I guess. I was way more high than I ever want to be again. I've tried it a couple times now, and determined I am not curious enough to keep trying smaller doses. I just don't like being high, that's all there is to it. That said, I can attest to the efficacy of this method for pain relief. Very peaceful, easy feeling in the bod, but no thanks for the mental trip, though it wasn't as strong as other ingestibles or smoke.
If anyone's the type to try to milk every last bit of medicinal value out of their herb, this is an effective way to get what's left after an ice-water extraction, and apparently, it's not an insignificant amount.
