The kids spun a few oz of hash and I looked at all that greenery from the work bag and thought, surely there must be something usable left in there, given that the ice-water bubble bag method is a mechanical rather than a chemical extraction. So when they left I took a few pounds (it's wet now, remember) of the leftover vegetable matter and I've been simmering it down with a few quarts of water and couple pounds of butter to see if any of the unhashed THC could be extracted. I kept it on for about 20 hours, very low heat, wrung it out, and it's chilling in the fridge. Only now I feel silly about the whole experiment and the kids will be back tomorrow. I had a little of the green grease on a tortilla yesterday, and I got a wee mellow off it, but I can't stand getting high, so I can't really test it to see if it was worth all that effort and perfectly good butter. Has anyone ever tried this? How much butter is a reasonable test quantity? I'd give some to the dog, but he really can't give consent, so that doesn't seem quite fair. Should I just throw all this gunk out?
