..are a great way too cool hot HPS bulbs. but does it take away lumen's or usable plant light due to the glass in the way? :rastasmoke:
You would lose only a nominal amount, and probably no more than a name-brand Cool Tube, or any other glass enclosure.

just out of curiousity which is better in terms of cooling:
1. A cool tube (either home made or store bought.
2. An enclosed air cooled hood.
It really depends on your setup. The only real difference is that with the hood, it's (hopefully) distributing the light more evenly across your canopy.Quote:
