Weight Loss in Drying Process..
Hi, not been online for while , had a few nice harvest but one thing concerns me..
We had a harvest of just under 90 oz wet, we hung it up to dry n a week later when i was nice n dry it was only like 22 oz, is that right, should it lose that much weight ?
It was dried in our bedroom, in one of those hangy up dryin racks, good fresh airflow all around, but i've read that you to dry it in the dark, is that right? cos we never its got natural light n darkness?
Please help cos we got a big harvest coming up in middle of september, 20 plants and while the last 22oz was a really nice smoke, a little more weight would be nice ! ;)

76% loss in weight. I have a feeling this number can float between 80%-65% depending on genetic and growing factors. There are products out there that can make your buds harder and more dense... this might help reduce loss of weight during drying.

sounds about right you will usually end up with a third of what you started off with.

I usually end up with 1/4 of wet weight, but I dry 'em pretty good.

so it doesnt really make much difference whether they dried in the dark or light..

No it does, it allows for photosynthesis to occur.

Light destroys the trichomes. So, from the aspect of potency, you are better off to dry in the dark.
But as far as only weight is conserned, it's not going to make any difference.
