View Full Version : A General Trip to Holland

I just got into an argument with my dad. He believes all Weed Propaganda, thinks the only 3 paths I have set infront of me are Dead from trying harder stuff, Jail, or Fast food.

Now, Before he knew I smoked, He thought I had life set for me, with my A's and B's in honors classes. Now he thinks all my grades are going to go down just because he caught me. Wtf? Believe in me before the fact, but not now?

It got to the point where I just said I had enough of this bullshit society and he said he has no problem with me leaving for Holland when I'm over 18 and ready.

The question:
Where in Holland is a good place to live? I don't want to live in Amsterdam, but a small, cozy town where it's the same general basis of Amsterdam. Weed legal for recreational, fun people, etc. What would be a good place, if you know any? Do people speak Dutch primarily, or could I get away with just English?

Also to you Canadians: Where are the weed restrictions not enforced all too much? Going to Canada would save a lot of money, I suppose.

Hey do you really think you need to go all the way to Holland or Canada just for easier access to weed?? If its just to get away from your dad's BS chances are you'll move away anyway. I don't know if you're from the states (didn't check), but its almost as easy to get weed as those two places or you could just grow your own... on the other hand I wouldn't mind moving to Europe myself sometimes

i'm with them, i think you're kinda blowing it out of proportion...

i don't know you or your situation other then what's stated... but that sounds like the perfect time to stay here, and make something of yourself, and prove to your dad that weed (And even drugs... i've said it before, any drug can be used responsibly... it's just that the harder ones are ever rarely used responsibly) doesn't dictate what your life will be....

your life will always be what you make it... if you accept the general consensus you'll be nothing in life cuz you smoke.... guess what? you will be... nothing in life is free, you have to work for your life... if you think yoru life sucks, you have to work to make it better...

i don't know why, but all the people on the side of 'weed is bad' always seem to think it drains your life from you, and just becuase you smoke (even if it's just like on the weekends...) you'll be nothing... well fuck that, cuz alcohol has a much stronger negative effect... and there are functioning alcoholics... they may not have the best life there is (very few people do, drugs or not) but they make it without having to worry about how ot make ends meet and such...

if people can live full happy lives while drinking, why does everyone assume a little weed is going to be diffrent? i've actually never really met a pothead that sits on the couch all day infront of the tv in their parents basement smoking 'their brain away' and doing nothing with their life.... weeds not cheap... it offers even more motovation to get out there and get a decent job...

Shit dude.

I was pissed off.

I talked some more with my dad, and trust me, He will not take no for an answer when I use as many facts and resources that weed isn't as harmful as he thinks.

He's still convinced the only 2 roads I'm going to end up on are Jail or Low-Pay jobs.

Although, what really sets me off is the fact he singled out my one friend. We all got caught with pot, but since it was the one friends mom, My dad doesn't feel "comfortable" around him. He never has, but this kid isn't normal. He has energy, is brilliant, just not book smart, and just likes to have fun. And then ofcourse theres the weird sounds and crazy shit he does.

Sorry about the first post, and how immature I looked as I reread it.

you're still growing up, immaturity is only something that can be expected...

realizing it on the other hand is a major step forward...

do you need to get out from under your dads rule? yes... do you have to move outta the country just becasue of it? no... i mean think about it logically.. do you even have a place to go in eithe rplace? do you have a financial plan in order? do you hav eany idea of what to do other then how to get there? unless all three are a yes, moving is a bad idea.. especially outta country..

people are actually telling you to stay in America...
do NOT listen to them.
your desires will take you to better and greener places,
with no nukes (hopefully), and no assbackwards gov't (once again, hopefully)

yeah.. move outta country, when you have no provisions, no place to go, and definately no one to turn to when shit gets hard...

unless he can answer yes to all three of my questions, you're setting him up for a hard ass life, living on the streets...

are you fucking serious dude? becasue of a govt. (which isn't that bad, i admit we have our problems, but goddamnit, there are worse govts. out there...) you want this dude to take a chance, A FUCKING CHANCE he just might make it wherever he moves?

and you have the nerve, the goddamned gall to say we're the ones giving him bad advice????

man dude, when you started in with all your conspiracy shit, i knew you didn't deserve the respect i'd give to most members here. now you deserve even less.. i know it doesn't make a fuck to you.. cuz you don't know me and what not... but you're trying to tell someone, to go to a new place, where they'll have virtually no help... just because alot of the laws we have are hypocritical?

that is the worst advice i've ever heard... IN MY LIFE....

*takes hit from bong*

slip,
i'm not telling him to take a chance;
i'm inserting my perspective of the real possibilities in living a sustainable life
in other countries. i am glad you responded with such concern for the poster. your remarks remind me to to tell him that he should research and plan. Saving money now to sustain yourself during the time it takes to find a job overseas, or anywhere, is important. And by the way slip, the world is flat. You can walk anywhere you want and back, so if it sucks or things become too rough he can take a plane back to his parents/relatives.

i'm not even going to respond to your conspiracy remarks, because they make me laugh. that's all i'm going to go, because the perspectives, and knowledge we both have is very different and it would take far too long for all the facts to be found for me to win

yeah, and once he's there.. ends up spending any money he may have, told his father "eff you dad i don't need you anymore" he's going to get the money to get a plane ticket back home exactly..... how?

btw.. i express concern, because picking up and moving on.... is never as easy as it sounds... even just moving a city away... then instead imagine moving to another country...

they've spinned you just fast enough. you're vision is blurred
and you can't see past the borders of america. DUDE, i hope this kid does not go off and do something on the spur of the moment (though even w/ hardships people can still be happy and succeed-think immigrants). I said he should PLAN and consider things carefully, if he doesn't have 100-500 bucks (one way ticket to nearly anywhere in the world, canada would be EVEN CHEAPER) he obviously didn't plan and think things out. Just the fact that you are arguing about what ifs with me makes me not want to respond. Maybe you should criticize my statements from their basis.

i can see past the borders of america (there you go with the conspiracy crap again lol! i hate this country as much as anyone) but i'm not going to let a KID (no offense to you dude... but i was your age once too.... looking back on it, i was a kid then too...) go off and fuck himself like that and break the dick off... and 100-500 is dollars is NOT ENOUGH... you need more than a thousand.... unless you have everthing already all set up for you... you're asking ot become a bum....

maybe you see america being so bad that someoen should leave it with next to nothing in their pocket, to a country (i can only assume here) you have no relation to, no friends, no family, no back up... and try to start a new life... but it' snot that fucking bad...

just face it.... 'they've got my vision blurred'... maybe your vision is the one tha'ts blurred..... there's not too damn many countries that are shitty enough to play with your life like that... maybe you enjoy being a bum or the prospect of it....but next to no one else would or does...

again i say, unless he can answer yes to all 3 of my questions it's stupid, and it's horrible fucking advice to go ahead and leave... especialy on the grounds of a hypocritical govt.... that's almost as bad as wanting to leave (again no offense dude) because you got in a fight wiht your dad!

wake the hell up dude.... how old are you anyways? if you think 100-500 is enough to start a new life on you can only be about 16 or some shit.. either that or mentally handicapped... find one other adult anywhere that thinks that's enough money to go running off with (especially to a new country) where you have no job, no friends no family to turn to and try to start a new life... and i'll retract my statements.. until then... stop trying to lead someone down a shitty horrible life...

try reading my text, read and think about what i am trying to portray,
this is like talking to a wall!

you asked about a return ticket if things went sour!!!
to use 100-500 dollars as "my" proposed budget for his
journey is absurd.

you misread me,
and then spit in my face.
why start an argument that you limiting his abilities?
why support that arguement and prove that there is a way to set up life in another country with 4-6k with you slip? why respond with the great things i want to and will do in the future, in other countries to prove it is conceivable, and achievable?

why argue ignorant bliss is self-destruction for yourself slip?
