View Full Version : Easy, free stoner jobs?

Wondering what kind of jobs would be relatively easy to try and get; being someone who probably couldn't pass a drug test if their life depended on it, I'm going to say that drug tests are out of the picture. I could wait a month or so if I wanted to get the job bad, but what do you guys think?

Background info: 17yo white male, Louisiana, lots of tech knowledge and ability to pretty much perform any task. All AP classes in school, academics a breeze. I'm not all that *desperate* for cash, but I really need the job experience (have no official job experience) and could use the cash for sure to fund my car's expenses etc.

Thanks for reading and hopefully I (and others) will be able to get some help in this area. I look forward to your responses.

I'm in crappy louisiana too and welcome to cann.com

Resturant jobs don't drug test. And anyway, it is easy to quit for a month and get a decent job. I would suggest that route. Unless you mess up some how they won't test you again.

Plant trimmer...

Once every couple months...

Good pay...

No benefits...

Lotsa free scissor hash...

401k plan included...

Damn it...I forgot where I put that AD...*cough*

Sorry to be so sarcastic ...but I can't help myself sometimes. Good luck in your job search. Try to find one where you are not an "employee," but a sub-contractor rather. Oh, and I'm not sure if my memory is correct about the 401k Plan above. :p

Hmmm, you know, that;s so hard to say. I know in States, they have drug testing for the simplest of jobs. To be a stock boy at Wal-Mart they drug test you. Don't get me wrong, a job is a job, but I guess I don't see the purpose of doing so much drug testing that isn't really needed.

I can see drug testing for government jobs, or if you're a rig/truck driver, but stocking shelves, drug testing just isn't needed in those areas.

So I'm not really sure what to answer. A more broad example of what you're after might help. :)

Well the thing is.. I have asked around a bit from people I know that have had jobs in my area, and they've said: McDonald's tests (wouldn't work there anyway), Taco Bell tests, Wendy's doesn't (but 2 people I used to be friends with work there, my last resort), and haven't heard too much of the others.

Honestly, I don't want to flip burgers. Ever. Even if it's just some trash teenage job. But the thing about getting a "decent job" is.. I don't know what to do or where to do it at.

I sent in apps to Circuit City, Johnny's Pizza, Best Buy, and others, (Circuit City has ZERO people on register every single time I go in there, yet they still fail to call me for interview) and none of which have gone further than calling me to let me know they've received it, I never get any interviews scheduled or anything.

I only went to Blockbuster for that last summer, and they said I was too young (after going through all the registration etc.. so dumb).

So, I don't know. I have no idea what I could do.

Thanks for the fast reply, though.

Hard to say. You seem pretty qualified, but which jobs drug test can be a toss up. It isn't a career but local music and video shops are always good (not a chain though like HMV or Blockbuster).

Bus Boy, did it for a while til i quit, its boring but a breeze all you do is pick up plates and give them to the dishwasher and i would work with like 17-18 year old people( waiters etc) who always had cigs so i could go on a break with them

Best Buy and Circuit city do. I would think the pizza place might not. Most resturants don't. You are only 17 chances are your job will be crap. You have to start somewhere.

The smaller the company the less chance of a drug test too. Drug tests cost money. Family owned places=good.

Well I don't smoke cigs, and working at a food place would just tempt me too much for my liking.

Has anyone been in a similar situation where they had to get a job like this? I'm not even going to try to beat a drug test, it's either they test and I wait a month or they don't and I go free.

Start cooking in a resturaunt. Not fast food, grease joints, but a sit down resturaunt, or a bar and lounge. Bar and lounge food is super easy to make, no drug testing, and the work and pay isn't bad either.

Expect not to get calls back from people, and expect to work crappy jobs. You have to start somewhere. :) You can't start at the best place and be treated with respect. The first years of working is all about how much crap you can take from the boss. :p Get a few jobs under your belt for a good time, and things will get easier and easier. :)

Good luck.

I'm applying tomorrow morning to be a valet...10 bucks an hour plus tips, which are on average 2-3 bucks a car. I highly recommend it.

Hell, where did you get a job as valet? And at age 17?

JaggedEdge

Do you know how to drive a standard? I'm sure that is a requirement in order to get a valet job. I know a lot of people don't now, I'm one of them.

You could always get a paper route. But early mornings may not be your thing.

They are always looking for reliable people. Pay is not bad for a few hours in the mornings.

Good luck

Drive food around.

Why would I get a job where I have to spend MORE on my car in order to make money?

Doesn't sound very sensible there.

And I know how to drive a standard (though I'm pretty rusty) from riding ATVs and dirtbikes for years, as well as my mom's manual car.

Find a mom and pops store and not the big boys. The smaller loally owned places ususally don't test as it costs extra and whatnot.
Here's a big tip, don't ask if they test. If they don't mention it, then roll with it but be on guard for a while. Almost every job I've had was supposed to test acording to policy, but never tested me and I kept my mouth shut.
Most places will tell you at some point during the initial meetings if they do or not.

Most companies give you a gas allowance for your travels. :)

Try a paper route like someone else suggested. It only takes about an hour or two a day, you get high on the job, while working, it will keep you in good shape for the years to come, and the pay isn't that either.

There are a few people my age who do 2-3 routes a day. That gives them about $600 a month for working 2 hours, 5 days a week. Not bad I think.

not only that, but making a hundred bucks a night cash on top of a (puny) paycheck, its not a bad gig. Something i'd do again if i needed to.

At what time of the day do they do that?

I wake up now at 7:00am, go to school at 7:45, pick up some friends to go to school if I'm taking them.. and go to bed at 11:00pm-2:00am depending on.. well.. when I feel like it.. which doesn't leave much room, although I could certainly do a lot more activity in the morning I waste time on later during the day.

Plus I'd have to drive all the way out to pick up the papers, then the rest would be cake.

Thanks for bringing that idea up, I may actually seriously consider that.

My paper guy from Monday-Friday, comes at about 1:00pm. From what I've been told, the weekdays they don't have to be until 5pm.

On the weekends though, he comes very early in the moring at about 7-8am. I'm guessing they don't have to be done until 9 or 10am on the weekends.

Around here, I get papers/flyers 7 days a week, and I'm sure that's what my paper guy does too.

Most places though it usually 6 days a week with no deliveries on Sunday's. They usually bring the bundles of papers right to your house, so you wouldn't have to pick anything up.

So weekends would be tough. Especially if you like to hang out with your friends on a Friday and Saturday night.

Na, na, that actually seems even more plausible.

I had expected it to be ~3am-5am all days of the week. If I could deliver papers after school or before school, hell, I'd do that in a heartbeat. It was just the waking up at 3am to go do it being the problem. I'll definitely look into it and see how it goes, although any other advice from anyone else is welcomed. Thanks!

Delivery for a Chinese Restaurant is what I did. Or pizza delivery. Smoke weed in your car while delivering shizz. Have friends in the car with you to keep you company. Good tips which pay out in cash. Best. Stoner. Job. Ever.

Drug Tests are overrated. passed them 3x so far with only 36 hours notice.

And yea i agree w/ pizza delivery. Meet a lot of possible hookups late at night delivering...

Same here. They only drug test you if you are working for the government, or are driving a rig or truck for hauling. That's about it.

Some companies will test you if you enter the trades, but that is very rare.

The US has gotten out of control with urine testing. Like I said before, they seem to test for every job out there, excep6t resturaunt work. That must cost companies thousands of dollars each year, espcially if the company has a high turnover rate.

Testing should only be done when needed. Stocking shelves or hauling bricks, it just isn't needed.

Get something to do with construction, thats where all the smokers work so its peeps u can relate to, i work concrete (pour basements and shit) atm, my whole crew smokes and we all just work at our own pace pretty well. Oh yea and my boss isnt a dick, hes barely even there to be honest, and he knows that we all smoke, but as long as the work gets done and hes paid hes cool.

I ran a small pizza joint for awhile... When I needed extra $$$... I would send my driver(s) home and go do deliveries. Easy way to pick up $50-$60 cash for 6 hours work, plus I payed my drivers $5/hr and $1/delivery... I never drug tested, but I didn't like my drivers being high while doing deliveries. That doesn't mean that we didn't bust out the blunts, joints, and bowls during closing/clean-up/when we were slow. Pizza delivery has to be one of the best stoner jobs, cause if your broke and outta weed Tuesday night when you come into work, you usually have enough $ to score a sack and the opportunity to go pick it up half-way thru your shift on your way back from dropping off a pie.

On your 18th birthday, go apply at your local RGIS (RetailGroceryInventorySpecialists)office. They DO NOT drug test and their starting pay will be 2 or 3 $ over minimum wage. All you need to be able to do is count accurately and use a 10key calculator.(the audit machine is more than just a calculator) but if you can use a calculator and count, they will hire you.I worked for 4 years on their walmart inventory crew.12.00hr plus per diem when we traveled out of town. And over half the crew got high, the other half got drunk.
