I'm sick and tired of Kerry always saying shit about Metallica. At least Metallica doesn't come out with the same fucking album all the time and doesn't talk about the Devil or 666 or blood in every song. Slayer has no melody at all in their songs and their songs are very repetitive. At least Metallica changed in their career and has had multiple styles. Slayer never did and they are very narrow in their music. They say James can't sing anymore? Just listen to fucking Tom Araya on a live CD now!
Kerry, I love your group, but don't disrespect another OLDER band just because you are jealous of them having better music and lyrics then you. You piss and moan just like Dave Mustaine did.

Kerry King, the frontman of metal band Slayer has slammed rivals Metallica calling them a 'sinking ship'.
King is particularly amused by Metallica's choice to hire producer Rick Rubin for their next album, reported contactmusic.com. He said: 'I'm surprised he's going to be doing the next Metallica record because I don't know how he's going to right that sinking ship.'
Velvet Revolver initially began working on its second album last year with Rick Rubin, the superstar producer who's currently overseeing Metallica, But the band parted with Rubin after a brief time and hired Brendan O'Brien instead. Frontman Scott Weiland said Velvet Revolver and Rick Rubin were not a good match. "The Rick thing didn't work out, and, you know, he was working on a couple of other things, Metallica and U2, and so we kind of became very uninspired."

You act like this is some kind of important news or something. Why?
They are a bunch of lames and are too old to compete in todays music world so they come up with some make believe strife to get people like you all excited.
Relax, smoke a toke and find some other band to listen to that doesn't make it's notoriety off of bull shit like dirt slinging and do actually make good music.
totally agree with the guy above
both bands are washups who havent really done anything worth a damn since the 80's. metalicca, whether you like the new stuff or not, sold out in the 90's and slayer, who i didnt like to begin with, has been writing the same song over and over and over again for the last fifteen or twenty years

Metallica SUCKS now. Kerry is right, but the ships been sinking since 1990. I am seeing Slayer Feb.12 and cannot fucking wait!
Metallica was a much better band, but they sold their souls long ago and have not made a good album since ...And Justice For All.
who cares, Theyre both sinking ships, Iron Maiden can whipe the floor with both of those bands any day

I feel both bands have become too formulaic. This is a classic example of the kettle calling the pot black.

I was just about to say that lol. Metallica wanted their music to be good for the imbeciles at MTV. Who cares if they changed the way they play, they did it for money. Slayer on the otherhand has never been on MTV, except maybe on Headbangers Ball. They have kept the same genre and style because they play what they love, not what the mainstream wants to hear.

Metallica hasn't rivaled Slayer in many many years, not even in the same class anymore - Hiring Rubin to produce an album might work for Run DMC and Def Leppard, but Metallica needs to get the heart back. I'm sure they have sold way more albums than Slayer, but in doing so, they alienated the fans that got them there in the first place. There are usually 2 Metallica camps - the early stuff, and then the new stuff. Slayer fans embrace the whole catalog generally, and they consistently produce metal albums that set the bar/benchmark for the genre. Add in the live show aspects and theres no contest IMHO - SLAYER rules

The point about Metallica being an older band is not a very strong point as Metallica formed in 1981 and Slayer in 1982 there is a matter of months between them. Both releasing their first full albums in 83.
Better music/lyrics...thats down to preference.
I waaaaaaay prefere slayer.

Ya slayer has put out some iffy stuff, but 20 years as one of the biggest underground bands ever. They don't get any radio play, but they put on one hell of a show.
metallica on the other hand failed not once but the last 5 cds just blew out loud. the last one was the worst metallica cd EVER! That is not metal, it wasn't metallica. Hell i liked the last megadeth cd WAAAAAYYY better then st.anger.
i think K.K. was just stating an opinon. frankly i agree

I agree with fasterspider, the days of metallica and slayer have been over for a while now. Why not enjoy their old stuff and at the same time listen to some bands that are out now, rather than hoping for a triumphant comeback by either band.

personally, i cant stand slayer....i have always loved metallica, i cant help that..i think more of an issue here is the kind of comment that was made, unprovoked, from a band who is seen as on the same level...if that makes sense...i found the comment the guy from slayer made rather random and insulting and reminded me, like i needed to be, why i never liked them to begin with......
and as for iron maiden wiping the floor..maybe, but judas priest will always kick all their ass'... :D
