Wow.

Just saw it for the first time. Possibly the most powerful, emotional movie I've ever seen. Denzel is soo fucking good at what he does...unbelievable. Good acting all around. Why did he win an Oscar for Training Day (not saying he shouldn't have)..and not for this performance?

This flick is real. No other way to put it. Break it down any way you want...but that shit hit hard.

Let's just say I'm glad I watched it alone...and not in the theatre..and not with a girl LOL.

I completely agree, this is a hugely underrated movie. I'd put John Q on my list of... oh i dont know... top 40 movies of all time.

lemme guess, you watched it on TBS lol

I just watched it too, it is one of my favourite movies, cause it is about real shit and problems you have in america............But it probably gave some people some ideas lol

If you've only seen it on TBS it doesn't count as having seen it. That is just my opinion though. They just do so much editing and censoring that the director's original vision is lost.

The movie is a throw away to me. Not good, could be worse. Pretty much just a pay check for Mr. Washington, who truly is a dynamite actor though.

^^Ya TBS butchers the good movies, and they censor the most softest of words............

It does count...it was the whole movie. It's only PG-13..and the movie ran from 10:10am to 12:50. It's just under 2 hours (116 minutes) so with commericals...that figures out about right. I'm gonna watch it again soon though..I'm pretty sure my friend has it. And that was one of his most dynamite performances...easily. And I've seen most of his flicks. I honestly don't think you saw it lol. He brought so much fucking emotion.

KING KONG...AIN'T GOT SHIT...ON ME! He was fucking bad-ass in that. He's never the 'bad guy'..but he played that perfectly.

I seen that movie a long time ago. That movie was sad. Maybe I'll feel different if I ever have a child but I can't see my self willing to give my own heart so some one else can live lol!

I'm really surprised that so many people on here seem to like that flick. If it works for you I'd say go with it.

It just didn't bring anything new to the table for me.

I also think Man on Fire was one of Washington's best. I didn't expect to like it but I thought it was dead on. Great film.

That was a good one too I agree. As for this one...whether or not you like the story or whatever..that is another thing. I'm more impressed with the emotion it made ME feel..which I usually don't get from any kind of movie. I was pissed then I was sad...then I was happy and back and forth...it kinda fucks with you lol.

That is usually the sign of a pretty damn good film I'd say. Maybe I saw it when I wasn't in the mood.

But you are right, whether the story is there or not, if it hits you on that deeper level you are getting something that a lot of recent films haven't delivered.

P.S. I saw your post Mac in the other thread where you managed to work John Q in again, nice work :rastasmoke:
