Topping

Hi, does anyone know from personal expierience if the strains 'white russian' or 'Ice' respond well to topping. I picked some nice strains so I want to get the most possible out of this grow. Also, I've just ordered myself a knew 600w HPS/MH light. I haven't used a 600 before an was wonderin how much better light penetration they have over 400's, as I'm deciding what height to start flowering. don't want to waste my time growing taller plants if there's not much lower bud development. If anyone could help thatd be great. Thanks

hey i don't know the answer to your topping question cause im personally unfamiliar with those strains (im sure someone can answer it tho). As for the lighting question, if you want lower bud development you don't necessarily want a higher wattage (altho that will just make all the buds bigger in general of course), you want supplementary lighting- like lighting pointing at the bottom of the plant. a 600w is much superior than a 400w tho.

I have grown white russian a few times and imo it prefers to be topped but you must top it no more than a week before you plant to go 12/12 as if you leave it any more it can end up a messy bush as i found out on my fist attemp at topping this strain the second time i topped it i flowered exactly seven days after topping and ended up with two extremely large colas/my preferance with this strain is 2 week veg then top then leave for 7 days then flower but that was down to my height restrictoins. this strain also loves scrog.hope this helps be safe the postman.

Dutch lover, I thought that'd be the case. I was thinking of getting supplementary lighting, but thinking more about it, I think I'd prefer larger top buds off a 600w as I could only use a 400 with suplementary lights aswell..fuking electricity bill!
Postman dave, That's really useful to know. It's good to get advice from someone that knows the strain. I'll follow your advice on that one, I'll probly leave one of the white russians untopped to compare. How nice is the smoke? It sounds nice

its a kick ass smoke amstron you will be well pleased .i liked it that much i crossed it with jamiacan lambsbread and made my own strain that i am in the prosess of stablising.it is said to be the strongest strain known .the phenotype i selected from the cross is a bigger yeilder but still has 70% of the white russian characteristics but the hue goes a blue coulor a very intresting mix. i predict you will grow this a second time lol. be safe the postman.

If you dial in your 600W with a good strain and good feeding regiment then you can pull a LB of some killer. The 600W is twice as nice as the 400, doubling the lumen output.

thanks, you guys are making me impatient! I'm pretty optimistic about this grow, I'm using canna nutes and bud booster and I'm glad I got the 600.
I think your predictions of me growing 'white russian' a second time could well be right postman dave!
that sounds like a nice strain your making , good luck with that, the blue sounds really intresting. I've had purple buds before but never blue
