Growing buddies

How many of use have a grow buddy who lives within a couple hours' drive?

Someone to trade cuttings and advice with?
Someone to have a beer and yap for hours with about all the stuff you can't talk to your 'regular' friends about?
Someone who will lend you equipment if yours breaks?
Someone who will always be there to replace your genetics if you go down or have to bail?

And if you don't ....

HAve you tried to get a friend into the hobby?

I have a couple people...

A hydro grower
His buddy who also grows hydro
A dirt guy
A young guerilla grower who breeds the sick ganj
A legal farmer who grows organic veggies and is pot-friendly even though she doesn't grow it, she's the organic goddess
A couple retired growers who are legitimate knowitalls

Among all of us, it's a wealth of knowledge and laughs!

no that is why i like this site......my guy friends think playing with plants is GAY. i have tried to get them started but they have no patients...as for the women most think it is hot....but they would not do it because of the law...

The only one I have is my best friend. But he's more like a partner than a buddy lol, since our first and only grow was together.

Also, I'd be kinda skeptical about making too many grow buddies, because 9 times out of 10 when someone gets busted its because someone else snitched. Like one of my friends who doesn't know about me got busted a long time ago (he's a lot older than me) because one of his "friends" got busted and rolled over on him. I don't like anyone knowing that doesn't have as much to lose over it as I do.

But thats just my thoughts. I've been getting progressively more paranoid lately for some reason. Lol, I think its where I live, new city for school, living in apartments (i don't grow here because of that), where people can just come in and out as they please with 3 strange roommates. Like i used to smoke pot to chill, now smoking pot at home makes me stress more. Cause like maintenance and the apartment ppl don't give any notice they just show up and come in. Oh well, only stuck in this shit hole through summer.

yup, I'm acquainted with Image Reaper, so he helps a lot - guy has the greenthumb, fo shure, he's doing some killer Diesel/Herer stuff now - but, he is only helper I have so far

Don't really have a grow buddy.

I do have friends that are experts in organic growing, botany and horticulture.

I have conversations about new ways I can grow my tomatoes and strawberries with them.

If you have a University near buy, these people will give away great advise on growing vegetables or "other plants".

Paranoia is healthy but my crew knows I'm not a cash cropper- not even CLOSE- I'm more interested in breeding than growing massive amounts of bud. I've got only myself and a couple close friends to keep happy... I barely even charge my friends... just make them bring back all the seeds they find...
my grow buddies are mostly EXTREMELY small scale, strictly PU or breeding, and, well, how do I put this... OLD and mellow... not the sorts who are likely to draw attention.

I guess that's just my approach to growing. I look forward to the day when cultivation is legal so that I never have to look at anyone suspiciously and think, hm, are they trustworthy? I hate having to make judgements like that.

You and kp are the only growing buds I have, and of course all of the other fine people on this site who have shared advice and support. It has nothing to do with selling or having large quantities, it's like any home gardening- it's fun to do and you can consume the fruit of your labors. Pot is like wine- all the different varieties should be grown, studied even, but certainly enjoyed! This is the bounty of the earth-

Up here I have a friend who have been growing outdoors on a commercial scale for many years. I don't see much of him, or many of my other old pals anymore. I do know a couple of other friends who grow a guerilla crop each year, with mixed results. It's fun to compare notes during the grow season.

I know this guy from the pool where we (wife and I) swim. He has MS and wheelchair bound, for the most part. We always talk about the old "hood" (we both moved here from Boston area). We talk politics (we're progressive types). We talk food and gardening. So, I turn him on to my hot peppers and hot pepper sauces. He digs that stuff a lot. As he's been active in med pot politics, where he always sends me e-mails for the cause, I figured he likes a smoke. So, I gave him a bunch o' buds on a branch in his bag of dried peppers! lol He digs that! So I e-mail a pic of the "winter garden" and he's blown away. He says that he has a "winter garden" too! COOL!

I thank god for this site daily! I only have myself and my partner / roomate / grow buddy that know. Obviously we both live in the same place so we both have just as much to lose as eachother. we both know we can trust each other and not steal or try any shady shit so its all good. I'm with a lot of other people on this one and I just don't trust anyone at all. Even if I did feel that I could trust a certain person, I try to think to myself "would telling or showing this person have any positive gain for me?" If the answer is "no" then I don't show the person. So far I haven't found any positive gain in risking getting sent to jail, so nobody knows. Its a hard thing to do, but the older and more responsible you become you will have less and less of a reason to tell people and more and more of a reason to keep the operation rolling!

I am thankful for this site since its nearly anonymous and a wealth of information!

my local buddy has a mirror image of my set up ..it really helps us both becouse or problems and success's are practically identical we learn twice as fast.and its is really nice to have someone you can show your room too.

lol yeh, recently ive got 2 of my friends into growing, (i had to give them seeds, thermometers, soil, pots - all that crap) im having a friendly competition with one of them, we both have bubblegum plants at the exact same size and stage, so we can see who can grow better...

another one of my friends grows, he had a year old bush, up to my chest, unfortunately, he didnt care for it enough and it ended up with a crap yeild, and crap bud, but he still grows, i got 2 plants from yet another friend last nite, so i could flower them for him..

basically yeh, i have a few friends that grow, 4 in fact, its always fun teaching them how to grow, and its definately good to chat about weed, as most ppl couldnt care less about growing...

I only have one grow buddy and he's the one who convinced me we should grow in my closet, neither of us had grown before. It's nice to have someone to talk with about stuff, but he's as green as I am so thank science for my nice friends (that's you guys! :D) here at c.com. :jointsmile:

I give my knowledge and clones to a select few. I've set up 2O+ ppl to date.

you gotta trust someone. i like ppl w/as much to lose as i do. poor folks can't afford kb, so i've no worries. i know that when it leaves me. it gets smoked, no sold.

all my grow buddies depend on me. i get satisfaction of them being happy and beaming w/pride after their 1st harvest. makes me feel good and don't hurt my karma.

leo got most ppl fooled or scared. I'm neither.

I have only one guy to talk "grow stuff" with. There are two more that know I grow. A guy that I grew up with--as best friends---always seemed to think of himself first. So, obviously....he has no idea, and will never know!

I have only 2 people who know about this and where i live. One of them brought the clones to me and the other is his brother. The both have more to loose than i do for other reasons, wont mention here, but you get the idea i'm sure. As far as new people knowing, they would have to impress the crap out of me before i trust them enough to show, talk, or even mention what i have setup. Now with that said, there are a couple people on here that i wouldnt have a problem meeting, drinking, comparing notes, swap'n plants, what have you but thats is a pretty short list (i know that one already knows ;) ).

hey wuzup stinky attic i wish i could have a grow buddy. i tryed to get my buddy doobie into growin and he tells me how he wants to grow but every time i give him clones he never takes good care of them so im just givin up on, so im still try to find someone to share my grow info with and get info from other people but out of all my friend who try to grow always ask me question. but after five years of tryin to grow i no what, i learned from my mistakes so i now i no what im doin so i guess its all good though so to all my growers overgrow the government :rastasmoke:
