It has a Northstar V8..... good motor....

Kelly blue Book is 7100 retail In excellent condition....

do more research on it.....

420purp.....Please know what you are talking about before you spew shit

The "Northstar" V8, as it was then known, was to be an all-aluminum DOHC 32-valve V8 which was capable of producing 300 hp (224 kW). Archrival Ford Motor Company was developing a similar engine at that time as well, and Ford's Modular engine would precede the Northstar into production with its introduction on the 1991 Lincoln Town Car. Both continue in production at 4.6 L of displacement.

Thread starter.... remeber the northstar is an Interferance motor meaning the Valves will hit the pistons if the chain breaks.... get it looked at!!!!!!!

not much on caddy's but sounds like a sweet deal... although with the bluebook price bong posted, i'd definately have it looked over really good by a mechanic (or if you know how to and what to look for do it yourself) cuz that's over 1k off... and car dealers, used and new want every last penny they can get... and believe me they have the blue book among numerous other things to see what shit is worth... most of the time they even overcharge...

don't wanna burst your bubble, but i'd definately be atleast a bit cautious... seen/heard of way too many people buying a used car, driving it fifty miles before they have to spend a few grand to fix everything that's wrong with it... some of them even have special mechanics that can tune it just right so that it lasts long enough for test drives and to get it off their lot before it breaks down.

it says its capable of producing 300 hp...

trust me... you dont want a 96... cadilac... if your going to buy one, get an older one. some of the older ones have like 454 or sumthing(i dont rember what he had said) that will produce 400 HP stock...

Not a bad choice. Safe/big, not too fast. The Northstar is bulletproof - a really good motor, I know people that have had em in sandrails and they hold up to a LOT of abuse. Not the greatest mileage though, and FWD :(

Just be careful buying used vehicles at dealerships. They seem like a good deal, but keep in mind that you are just buying a vehicle, that someone else didn't want anymore for a legit reason. I have had friends and even my brother buy used cars before, and at first, they ran great, but after some basic wear and tear on the vehicle, it's real problems started showing through again.

Seems like a '96 Caddi. with that much HP, for that price, seems too good to be true.

Take it to get a safety inspection, and NOT by the dealership you are buying it from. Take it somewhere else where a business is not associated with the dealership. Dealerships are slimey bastards and my pops can tell you that. ;)

Caddi's are more than capable of producing that much HP. They have power to them, but they are a boat, and very hard to drive and handle.

But hey, if that's what you want, then go for it, but I would consider at least looking at other cars at other places before deciding on something you see, and like right away.

That's because you NEVER had to drive one that was older than 1 year old and STILL under WARRANTY!!!!Try getting a 10 or 20 year old caddy and see if you still think they are such great cars. You will either be stuck on the side of the road every month or two, or you will be so broke you can't afford the gas to run the gas guzzling dinosaur. They cost nearly as much to fix as a fucking MERCEDES fer christs sake!! and a door handle will cost you at least 200.00 for a mercedes.I dont even want to GEUSS how much an actual part for the engine would cost.TOO DAMN MUCH!I'd buy a lincoln before I bought a caddy. And frankly, I doubt I would buy a lincoln either, they break down almost as much as caddy's and cost nearly as much to fix.
Try a nice saturn or maybe a late 90's Chrysler.I drive a '94 lebaron convertible.Paid 1300.00 for it 3 years ago.Still going strong too.Uses a little oil and tranny fluid, but doesnt smoke or slip any.In fact, if I'm not careful, I leave strips of rubber at every stop sign and light when I take off.It has a 6cyl turbochared fuel injected engine. No idea how many horses, but enough to lay rubber if you hit that accelerator too sudden like.

I suggest you stick with your Civic, it is a MUCH better value as well as a better BUILT vehicle than your grand dads caddy. Not to mention it probably gets DOUBLE the MPG that the Caddy does.

BeanyBean, chill dudez, I am not sure if you indeed mentally noted that I didn't buy one, fully capable as far as funding but chose a 2k2 civic(for a reason). However I do still love how they ride, and am much aware of the cost to fix them as they are dealer only parts.

whats up guys so im pretty excited today me and my mom went up to this car dealer to look at some cars turning sixteen soon

Got to here and was like, WOW, you're really fucking lucky. Getting a car for your 16th b-day, that's great, your mom's great for getting you something like that. You should always be grateful for being hooked up like that, never take it for granted. Then I got to here:

so anyways theres this 1996 cadillac seville its red, chrome wheels, leather, everything 10 cd changer 300 hp just fully loaded the works even has a sun roof and every one knows smoke rises but yeah im prolly gonna get it tomorrow me and my dad are going to test drive it its only $ 5995

Then I was like holy fucking shit you are one lucky ass sob. Your parents are really getting you something great. You should always be thankful for your parents spending that much on you, especially on a 16th birthday. Just getting a car, even if it was a piece of shit, is still something that is a huge gift. It's something a person can really use.

So, I'm not gonna say you don't deserve it or anything. You seem ecstatic which is great. Even if I had the money like that for my kids, I wouldn't do that for imho I would be spoiling them. But I'm just trying to say your parents are really doing something generous for you, never forget it.

Oh, and by the way, congrats and Happy Birthday! Drive safe.
