I wonder how the goverment will subdisize the NHS when ciggarettes sales drop when the no smoking in public places goes into effect next year.
when people know the tax they pay on cigarettes is worth a hell of a lot more the the fags themselves. any thoughts?

In the privacy of your own home like marijuana would be if it were legalized.

our fucking government is a fucking nanny, its a welfare state, and most of our tax money is spent on social security, NHS, Pensions, unemployment benefits and shit like that, most people live of fucking benefits cause if they went out to work they would earn less than the benefits given, cause basically 50% of our icome is taxed, which is why im gonna fucking leave

it is banned here already... ciggs are an addiction and as long as they are available people will buy them and smoke them in a sewer if they have to...

the bars around here have people outside smoking but they cant drink outside the bar... bars seem to be the only business that is suffering the most...

I am not a preacher but ciggs are the devils work,,, I pray that people with the addiction put them down for good now...

taxes are hi in my state so many are buying off the internet to avoid taxes,,,I know some that travel to other states and buy up a bunch of cartons where it is cheaper...

Addiction Addiction Addiction and some people will feed the monkey at all costs...

Actually in Boston here the smoking ban has not effected most bars. In fact it has done the opposite.

They just keep raising the cost of cigs here - in the past year they have gone up over a dollar a pack. They will never 100% ban them because the government is making so much money off them already.

It's ALL about the money - they could care less about people's health!

thats demographics I believe... I can see that happening in Boston where there is a high population of young professionals...

New York has this law in effect for a couple of years-people still smoke just not in bars or restaurants for example. They smoke outside. More people are buying cigs/gas on Indian reservations to save money wrt taxes etc..
