Well, actually, a little south of Vestal. Binghamton is the largest population center/symbol of urban decay in the area, so I use that as my point of reference. I just moved back to the area after being thousands of miles away for the past few years. Ithaca seems to be a fun place to go, although it's far enough away to be a hassle. Before I disrespect the triple cities, anyone know of good/fun stuff to do here? Barnes and Noble on the Vestal Parkway is great, but sometimes there is more to life than reading.

Wow, how weird is that. I registered 12/28 and saw a post from Binghamton. My wife and I moved from there 13 years ago. Sorry to hear you had to move back. It was a good place to grow up and move away. We go back to visit relatives twice a year...Fun things to do??? well, you were right on with Ithaca...hiking in the Adirondacks-Mt Marcy...Johnson City has the Magic Ice Co..or Parlor City something, good concerts- small venue type thing. Ahh Speidie Fest in Aug...we used to shoot propane tanks and road flares with a .308..big blast - private land- big fire ball fun.
Other then the propane thing..can't think of any fun things to do there.
There's always drinking. Only head shop is in the adult bookstore on Upper Court street...very aggressive police....
Best wishes...

Thanks for the response. Tough to find things of interest here, eh? Once the weather gets a little milder, I may try biking the trail that runs near the Vestal Parkway.

Someone was saying this area gets more cloudy weather than, well, I forget, but the gist was that we are the overcast Seattle of the East (minus the good bands, good coffee, microbrews and progessive culture). I'll try not to knock it. It's just really quiet compared to the big city I used to live in.

Seems like this area is as quiet as it appears to be, socially and entertainment-wise. Well, at least the weather here has been unusually mild this year, which is a lot to say. We had enough sun yesterday that my solar lights stayed on well into the evening.
