I had a talk with my father and he has said he is willing to buy Salvia for depending on the long term side effects, and of course my question is: Is there any? I have been looking around but can't find any besides the fact smoking anything isn't good for you.

Best rescource for any drug information period is erowid.com

From my research I seem to remember a rant about it having no physiological long term effects, but what do I really know? Check out erowid.

As a recent salvia user, I've looked all over the web seeking research on it (including erowid of course). Right now there seem to be no long-term physiological or psychological effects that we know of, but research has been minimal. Just remember, moderation in all things. Overindulgence in any hallucinogen is bound to have negative psychological effects. Stick to low-moderate doses, and don't do it every time you get bored.

As for the drug-posting rule, I was under the impression it only regards illegal substances, so I don't think it should be a problem.

MrDevious thanks for posting a mature and intelligent discussion instead of being like someone who responded to my post in the following manner:

1) didn't have the courage to post something in the open forum b/c they might get in trouble.

2) their argument consisted of something you would hear from an elementary school kid.

3) lacked the respect to this forum by just brushing off the forum rules without second thought

I know there are several salvia threads but I have also seen some salvia threads deleted. I think as they find them they get rid of most of them.

As a general rule, we let the salvia threads stay, actually. Unless discussion of other illegal drugs comes into play, that is. Or unless other they generate other trouble of some kind. Salvia's still legal in most places (that's apparently in the process of changing, however), and, unless I'm mistaken, there was a time when salvia advertisements were part of this board. Anyway, it's the discussions of other illegal substances that are more of what the owners had in mind when making that particular cannabis-only rule.
