I just lost my 9 year old cat, Noni. I saw her die under my bed. I felt so useless, not being able to do anything to help her. It's so horrible and hard losing a pet.
Has any gone through something like this?
The worst thing about it is that we did not even know she was sick. :(

lost a couple of pets, one dog, 3 ducks, a parrot, 2 lovebirds (named em lois and clark, clark died within the first month, got really attached to lois, she used to sit on my shoulder like a pirate and when i let her out of her cage she wouldnt fly into crap like most insane birds do, shed just chill out on my shoulders, she even walked up and down my shoulders, loved that bird, then one day i open her cage, she doesnt wanna come out, so after a few minutes i let go of the door and it fell down, just as i did that she flew towards the door and her neck got caught in it...... took me ages to get over that one) also lost about a million goldfish.....
edit: was about 7 when i had lois, so the pirate thing was cute as opposed to being geeky.......

Nine years is a long time to be with someone, and then not have them around. And not being able to help at the end makes you feel even more upset. I had to put my 16 year old baby dog down last July, and I slept with his blanket for two weeks. It is still hard to think of Emerson without crying, but that's just love for you.
take care

Sorry to hear that loosing a pet is very emotional because they are like family. Its even harder when there is nothing you can do about it. Hope your feeling better.

emkid420 I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I found out this past March how hard it is to lose a pet when I had to have my cat, Tahina Hobbeson put to sleep. I had her since 1989 when I was 20 years old and she was my best friend. It still hurts to this day to think that she is no longer with me.
The day my friend went away, one of my human friends e-mailed me the following link:
http://www.indigo.org/rainbowbridge_ver2.html
and when I clicked it, and saw it, I cried my eyes out like a baby for hours, but when I was done I felt better. I hope you check it out.
You are the second person this month I have heard from on this board who lost a kitty. I sent them the same link and was told it was appreciated. I hope you too appreciate this little bit of hope I can offer.
Best of luck - coping with this can be difficult.
smoke a big fatty tonight in honor of your kitty's life!!

I had to wait a holiday when my cat went,I knew he was suffering and the only other place to take him was the emergency room, but I was afraid if I took him there he would just be put down... I went the first thing to the vet the following day and it was kidney failure... He had to be put down anyway,so I felt guilty as shit... BTW I had that cat for nine years...
What it all boils down to is you made it's life a good one and death is as natural as life itself...

I set up a place for my Emerson at the Rainbow bridge- it always makes me cry when I go to it, but the proceeds go to help other animals, which makes me feel better. I like to think they are all in "dog and cat Mind" somewhere, and they feel good because they had lovely lives with good people.

I came home to my pitbull killing my puppy, lil' buddy. Along with my 16 year old cat, my three cats, and two other dogs. :( I feel your pain.

So sorry to hear about your kitty, Emkid. That's a huge loss, I know. My heart goes out to you. Much love and condolences from the pets in the Byrd household: Daisy, Lily, Buddy and Jay.

There are so many animals that need a home,,,the best thig to do is get another pet,,,that is how I got the two I have... new pets seem to quickly fill the void,,,for me anyway...

Yes, my cat who was 7 years old died right in front of me also and I felt helpless, but I knew he was sick (enlarged heart). The sad thing is, he had a vet appointment an hour before he died but we moved it to the next day because my sister had a basketball game. I doubt we could have saved him though, they would have just put him to sleep instead of letting him suffer.
