Carb or Downpiece

I'm buying a bong on Friday if everything goes right, and I need to know which hits better. One with a carb or one with a downpiece

if by downpiece you mean where you can remove the bowl then definitely that one... at least as far as i know those are te best.. my favorite at least

If by downpiece you mean pull carb, then definately the downpiece. If you're getting a glass one, most glass ones are pull carbs anyway. If you get an acrylic and it has a carb hole, you can just plug the hole with something and get a slider to put in it. I always get a nice clean clear with a pull carb since the air flows in from the same way the smoke comes through.

Even though they are simpler...some people have a lot of trouble with carbs...sliders are the best way to go almost 100% of the time.

i guess im weird...

as long as the carb isnt undersized, and is conveniently located, i see nothing wrong with a carbed piece. theres the advantage, that when you DO clean it, theres no extra resistance from the water.

but what i HATE is undersized carbs, becuase then the chamber is impossbale to clear.

btw, i have a slide piece and a carbed piece, both glass, and they both hit very nicely, although you only need one hand to operate the slide one.

the first bong i ever had had a slider and a clear hole. so you could do either one. it was raw.

I say downpeice because it's as far from the mout hole as possible. Not to mention it clears the smoke in the downstem.:rasta:

slider... the only reason i'll have a peice with a carb is if it's a bowl by it's self (pipe) and of course a steam roller.

what makes the pull carb so much better?
i have one of each and if im trying to get high off a smaller amount it definately goes in the bong without the slider.

Its personal preference really, but the way I see it with a slide/pull bowl, you are actually clearing the smoke from the bottom of the chamber, and will completely empty the chamber. Any carb is going to be offset a distance above the water level, so you may not get complete clearing down low of the "smoke on the water", leading to stale smoke. Plus they can spill when tilted, or the water gets on yer thumb.

I think pull carbs are more effective because it pulls the air in the same direction the smoke comes from, giving it a perfect clear. I also like the act of watching it milk up then pull the carb, unlike the bland boring act of lifting up your thumb.
