Alright, me and a couple of my friends have an idea(to buy more weed) but I have a question.

We're going to go as a group and donate plasma and receive $30 per person. I've been researching plasma donation on the web, and the guides tell you that you'll be asked about medical history, allergies, any disabilities, etc... but they also say you will be screened for drugs

Does this mean they'll test my blood for ALL major types of illegal drugs? Has anyone actually donated plasma before?

I mean.. this donation center is in Downtown.. so I'm hoping that they receive a good share of cracked out homeless people to not even care about THC in a suburban kids system. But I dunno...

they do not test for THC(marijuana)....i donate twice a week and get $55....it's what i use to buy my bags with.

It may also depend on the place...but maybe they don't because it probably can't harm it. You should ask them specifically what they test for, I mean, you wont get arrested for that.

I would think they would test you for all kinds of drugs. Its a bodily fluid and they need to make sure its not contaminated (sp) because its going to be put in someone elses body. So I would assume that thye would decline anyones plasma that has any drugs or diseases detected in it. I dont know this for sure but that would be my guess.

I'm pretty sure thc is out of your blood in a couple of days or less anyway..I'll check.

Edit: Only a few hours according to this site.

So like..just don't smoke the day before? Assuming you're having to donate blood to buy it anyway, I'm figuring you wouldn't have any before a test.

second edit: You are a bitch. :)

If a person walked in a plasma donation center most of the people most likely people who are trying to get extra money some of the people they come across have smoked. From my research on this the main thing they test for is infectious agents including hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HIV, as well as testing for liver function most likely not THC or other drugs.

This question was just asked a couple weeks ago. No, they dont test for, or care about, thc in your blood. You are good to go.

The best way to overcome your fear is to understand what happens during the donation process.

Plasma is collected through a process called "plasmapheresis." When you come in to donate, a needle is placed in your vein and your blood is pumped into a specialized spinning device that separates the plasma from the other whole blood components, such as red and white blood cells and platelets. While the plasma is collected, the other blood components are filtered into a reservoir. Once the reservoir is full, your red and white blood cells and platelets are returned to your body.

Throughout the process, the system automatically alternates between collection and replacement until the predetermined amount of plasma, based on your weight, is obtained.

The tubing and all other collection supplies that come in contact with your blood are discarded and replaced with new, sterile materials each time a donation procedure is performed.

It was funny, last friday i get all hooked up and my bloods going through and the tubing had a hole in it. Blood was all over...funny as hell. People that work and my center are mediocre.

Yeah, you're always making more plasma. I think you need to be at least 16, it might be 17.

I went up there to donate and was just about to get ready to be strapped in when they asked if I had any tattoos and I made the mistake of telling them the actual date instead of lying (like my friends did) so I couldn't donate any. They say you have to wait until it's been a full year from the day you got your tattoo to be able to give any plasma. I was pretty pissed...

Go back later to a different person and tell them a different date. ;)

Haha, I just got done donating actually. I still have the bandage on. The center here gives you $15 your first time and $30 your second time. You go twice a week. The one I used to donate at at a different college paid less. You usually get extra like your first time, but after that it goes down to that.

The whole procedure doesn't really hurt at all but you gotta chill there for a little while, usually takes 2-3 hours from the time you get there til the time you get done. Longer if its your first time.

But yeah, you get a physical and asked a bunch of medical questions, you can't have done a lot of shit, but they don't test for drugs. You will pee in a cup, but its not a drug test, its checking other levels to make sure you're healthy. Just don't smoke right before you go in, it raises your pulse and blood pressure. I know for sure, cause I've been several places and never stopped smoking once.
