That shit is so annoying, I respect legit names like AK 47 (and that shit has to look and smell like serious seeds AK47) Some motherfucker tried to tell me he had an O of Sour Diesel Haze and all it was some standard ass low grade mids.
List of annoying names I've heard
(I mean some of these weeds are alright, but I just find some of these names ridiculous, don't label your shit if you don't know what strain it is just say headies/mids/superheadies)

Citrus Sunrise
Hawaiin Dro
And I've had 4 types of different weed handed to me called M-39 from the same dealer all different quality.
I mean if you're a grower and you make a strain that's one thing, but if you are a dealer

Personally, I think it's rather annoying to hear the word 'Dro' as a strain name. I get it all the time when I ask what they're trying to sell me is.

Tell me your joking? WR is a real strain, and so is White Widow... infact, WR is a cross of WW.
WR is one of the best medicinal strains around, with a HEAVEY motherfucking indica stone, and im going to be growing some outside next year, while i have HOG growing inside.

Strains really have little meaning and they are almost impossible to distinguish unless you are buying the seeds and growing them yourself.. thats prob the only possible time you are certain of the strain of the bud you are smoking. Its quite common for dealers to just call the bud they have by whatever strain name they either heard of or some fancy name by what it looks or smells like. Doesent mean it still cant be amazing bud, but you cant always believe or judge the strains you are getting are what the dealer says they are. It could have changed names as it changed hands for all you know.

M-39 is a strain but the others sound made up. M-39 is a fairly popular commercial weed strain in Canada I think. I'm a bit dubous about strains obviously if a plant has good genetics its going to help a lot but I don't like the idea of the sort of Branding it gives to Cannabis. ie people going to amsterdam and getting White Widdow cos its the only 'brand' they have heard of. I find it sad cos stoner culture is supposed to be anti-materialistic.

My personal biggest 2 pet peeves are:
1) calling stuff 'dro' as if it's a strain, not a growing method
2) calling any lavender-colored bud 'purple haze'. Oh pleeeeeeze.
Even a breeder shouldn't name a new strain until he or she is certain that it is an ORIGINAL cross, has UNIQUE characteristics, and really should be stabilizeable/replicable through their own breeding. One good 'fluke' plant isn't really a strain, it's a lucky fluke. The clone-only strains like TRUE Thunderfuck are kind of the exception since the cuttings have proliferated so much and lots of people can grow the same plant.

As such, I hold my ground that purple haze is a fictional strain. I told him to stop being a dick to the newbies he sells the "purple haze" to, and stop making up names for his weed. Next thing ya know, he'll be selling green buds as WW...
But it was good.

All kinds of stupid people where I live, no one ever knows what they are really smoking. It pisses me off that people around here think that the only way to grow dank weed is with hyrdo. Also, around here anything purple automatically means its the dankest shit ever and the price goes up $10+.

this one time this black dealer i met at the gas station asked me if i needed some fire...so i agreed to a dime that costed $20 bcuz he said it was worth that much.... and so he hands me one of those dime sacks with logos on em and this one had stars...he said keep that low til u get home ..its some "DANK" he says,,,called it "chocolate surprise"....i get home...its some BROWN ASS SHWAG and it smelt of exactly like "HERSHEYs" milk chocolate...and it seemed like he melted a lil bit of chocolate on the buds to make it smell like chocolat e....WOW..WOw..niggers

It annoys me that people think hydropinicly grown weed is any stronger than soil grown. The only reason for hydro is faster growth. It's no stronger at all, and half the time they cant grow for shit and it comes out tasting of yummy ferts..

oh and as for one of the names buddha bear said; 'citrus sunrise' i got some bright yellow lemon weed from one of my old dealers a long time ago, and his friend had grown out his own strain PROPERLY (as in breedin over and over to get a stable strain) and it was called citrus surprise, it was a cross of citral and kariba surprise... and i posted about it on a diff. thread the other day, so if thats where you got 'citrus sunrise' from you might like to know it wasnt 'made up' and it WAS a real strain name. - (dunno if it still is...)

Im also a soil grower and i love it. It's less money, eaier to fix if something goes wrong, not so much to worry about and the buds usualy have a much better taste.
I only really grow 5 plants at a time with 250 watters MH and HPS, works ever time for me. I end up pulling about 2 oz from every plant, and i normally use fem'd seeds when ever i can. I've only had one male from a fem'd pack and only EVER had 1 hermie in all my growing time, but thats a good thing. My mates had hermeis from the same set of seeds as mine, but im not surprised. He was growing them on a window sill during winter. I told him but he didnt listen lol.

Not yet mate, i've arranged for my mate to come round with his camera 2moro, and im meant to be picking up 3 oz of outdoor skunk #1.
Fingers crossed it all comes together and if it does, i'll do it 2moro. I'll put it up in recreational.

I grow my buds in soil and with all organic nutes, except the bud swell fert (10-52-10) that I use during the last 4 weeks of life, other than that, I use fish emulsion and bat guano.
I take a soil grown bud over a chemical filled hydro bud anyday. :thumbsup:
Yeah, it would be, infact, id LOVE to smoke some of that with you. I love skunk, i absolutly fucking LOVE the smell, it's great, and its the same with blueberry, i love that too. A cross wouldnt be mind blowing for me, damn, as far as smell goes those have gotta be my two fav's.

Right now I'm smoking LUI (Legends Ultimate Indica), a BC fav., crossed with Super Skunk, and my god, it fucking reeks! :p I keep this shit in an airtight container otherwise it smells up my whole place. Some of the most potent I've smoked in a long time too. Too bad I only have an 1/8 left. :(

what makes a strain a strain to begin with?Some one needs to set a criteria of what makes a strain, set up.For example I have some seeds from emery seeds that came in a mix pack and if I mix em some seeds that I know are super skunk Am I allowed to name the strain that results from cross breading the two?? Should I have to grow it say "10" times before it is considered a strain?Once it is made legal there needs to be a horticulture guide to cannabis outlining all the strains.I have created some indoor weed before by crossbreeding but never gave it a strain name cause neither seeds came with a name.All I know the strain known as "Resin" really has me ripped right now!

White rhino's real. There's different rhinos, too, just like there are different widow strains. Crazy growers and their crazy names.
Oh, and puffin, I don't think it's just a pure cross like a fluke, but something that is actually grown out for certain attributes. That, and you have to make sure those attributes are locked into the plant's genes. Cross-breeding, you know. I'm sure there's a guide for it on here, or there should be.

Yeah what Graph said. If you can't recreate it, you shouldn't name it. Period.
I think everyone should read 'The Cannabis Breeders Bible' by Greg Green. It details how to manipulate traits and then lock them in, creating an original strain.
If you just cross Super Skunk with like Blueberry, then you call the strain (SS x BB).
For the record, I am currently growing White Rhino, among others. It is a good-looking plant and seems pretty hardy. The first one went into flower last week... smoke report in 3 months. :D

Around here I got something called "Skunkberry"it was Skunk #1 x Blueberry. It was damn good tasting, but not the most potent smoke ever. But an amazing high. True 3 hitter quitter shit :) Got it from the guy who grew it, but I'm not sure if he crossed it himself or what, but he knew what the cross was. A little fluffy, dark-olive green with really nice dark orange hairs. Perfectly trimmed buds too, and stank to high heaven of a skunk that was wearing fruity perfume. :thumbsup:

havent you all ever made up your own names? i used to be all into strain names, but im basically either buying mids or kb, with the occassional dank dank coming around. blueberry pops its head up every now and then, some kushes too.
lol one time me and my boy were trying to sell to this one dude. standard kb we were selling for 15 a gram, but didnt like the kid, so was trying to sell it for 20. i told him it was 'jamaican rainbow'.
