A CONVICTED pervert who bedded a 14-year-old girl walked free from court â?? because he had smoked cannabis.

Recorder Christopher Wilson-Smith QC said the joint had clouded the judgment of William Turton, 31.

The judge told him: â??Because of the special circumstances Iâ??m not sending you to prison.â?�

The court had heard that Turton was staying at the girlâ??s home near Yeovil, Somerset, after going out with her parents.

Their daughter was sleeping on a sofa when Turton pounced. He shook her â??like a jellyâ?� and ordered her to strip.

Then he had sex with her while her parents slept in the next room.

Turton had already been convicted of having sex with a 15-year-old girl in 1991.

But Judge Wilson-Smith at Dorchester Crown Court said he believed the latest victim was a willing sexual partner.

He gave Turton a community rehabilitation order and told him: â??Iâ??m sure if you hadnâ??t had cannabis you would have pushed her away.â?�
