Hi guys + dolls, anyone got any ideas...

This plant called "AB Dream XXX" - well just look at the pic. have you had this thing and flowered it?
My question(s) ...

Presuming it's a female.

1) If it is a female and I pollinate, and produce seeds, will they have a chance of being the same?
2) If I clone will it be the same?
3) Will a plant of this strangeness produce more bud?

To the "real" AB - don't worry it's not a "voodoo" plant, I never stick pins in my plants, you can sleep safe!

Any ideas guys?

Hmmm. That does look weird. What would I do? I would veg it out until it's clone-able, clone it, then veg that clone. I had a plant that was sickly, semi-mutant looking. It looked horrible: nute burn, curling leaves, the works. Then we topped it. And that top became an awesome plant. Vigorous and symmetrical. We are now doing LST on it. You can see it in my thread. I then threw away the "mother" of that plant. It was beyond repair. I might have posted a pic of it way back when.

But since this thread is titled Mutant Plants, I thought I'd add in a recent pic of one of our flowering "text-clones." It touched the light and burnt, then mutated. It now has three flowers growing off of one growth tip. Enjoy. And good luck with your mutant plant. If you don't find any better advice, maybe try what I did. :D

and it seems to be branching out everywhere - this plant is only two weeks old from sprouting. Look at the stalk!!!

From the top it's quite symetrical now though, with two five fingered leaves, but look at the side view, hmmm...

Good idea TheGreenFog - I have just built a flowering room!

All the best - Hall

I've exp mutated leaves too. As you picture looks it seems that mutated or not it has the will to live and grow. So lets experiment through you. Grow it to maturity and we'll all find out. I think that wierd little thing is pretty cool so lets see what its got.

...

This plant called "AB Dream XXX" -
AB... is it an Aussie Bastard derivative? Those carry weird mutant traits

...1) If it is a female and I pollinate, and produce seeds, will they have a chance of being the same?
I'm going to guess that whatever mutation you have is likely going to be recessive and the offspring will be carriers, but not express the trait. You might see it again if you do an F2 generation of that cross.

...2) If I clone will it be the same?Yes

...3) Will a plant of this strangeness produce more bud?Not necessarily. The mutation in the leaves and the possible yield are probably not linked.

That fused/split leaf thing is one of the mutations caused by polyploidy, where the chromosomes don't split right during meiosis. But that is not the ONLY thing that causes it, so hey, who knows, mutants are cool.

TY - Miss S. - we have a genetecist amongst us!!! (with breasts as well! - Bonus) j/k :)
Yeah I figured the F2 thing unless another has the same recessive gene, and anyway do we want this convoluted mass of leaves in our hybrids? LOL

Latest pic... now what? I almost feel it's gonna be female - so just keep going?
I have at least 5-6 weeks more of veg. to go - I'm going for a few plants, but BIG this time, and some for seeds - would hate to loose this strain (skunk #1) it's wicked, (a breasted genetecist/lab rat once told me that it was one of the "building blocks" of the canna gene pool)

Comments welcome.

nice to see little dream coming along so nicely lol, its definately an eager grower (just like its human counterpart ;)) its a cool little plant, make sure u keep us updated, unfortunately my mutant (mr. ugly) died after his cotyledons shrivelled and died leaving him with nothing to support any growth, shame really, but im germinating almost ALL of my immature seeds so maybe if im lucky, ill get a new mutant, anyways, good luck man, and if i had to give one way to preserve the freak like genetics, id say clone, but if you just want to keep the strain alive, get seeds, depending on sex obv.

Ty AB, and your kind comments on another thread I read, but I am not one of the "big boys" and I don't intend to be.
There is no such thing as the "best grower" - it's too selective a subject.

Now having a new strain named after you is pretty good though - don't you think??? (maybe it comes with a years free samples!) j/k

Anyway if it's a male OR female... I can still get seeds can't I? (Male pollinates female? or female gets polinated by male - we win either way, however yes it would be better if it were female then I could just polinate one bud maybe, and try the rest.)

KK - well she (let's hope) has to grow a bit so... pictures.

1) Crazy mass of leaves, however stabalizing on top (AB dream XXX.)
2) Normal Plant (skunk #1) at the same age - (4+ weeks)
3) Wide spread leaves on another plant, all same age - male maybe?

4) And...... wtf is this????? Some huge Red Beanie Baby spider mite, sucking on my "AB Dream XXX" - Looks stoned though, shhhh might be okay!

Arrrgggggg - floats away into a dreamy moment....

Hey! That's "Gorilla Jeff" - aka G.J. and his fave song is "Gorillas just wanna have fun!"
He saved my life once (but that's another story) - I'll ask him if he want's to be on the net, but don't hold your breath he's a grumpy s.o.b. - the plants soothe him though, so maybe he'll swap a pose or two with you.

I see you both in leapord skin printed leotards... ?

Even better from my point of view, where did you go rafting? (scary).

I think he signed on your mascot thread anyway pmsl - so what do you think of the plants?

I like the plants. They look healthy.
Rafting is for tourists... I was whitewater canoeing in my little 8-footer... Deerfield River, it runs through parts of Southern VT and MA before joining the mighty Connecticut in Greenfield MA.

wow... that plant is a real mess lol... i like it :) plants all look very healthy... I have a question tho, should i germinate a horse chestnut in soil, (obviously wet soil) or do you know a better way to do it? its a serious question by the way lol I got a few and was like, hmmm... i know who can help me with this.... so anything you know, will help alot - (I did google it, and im not being lazy, i just couldnt find substantial info on germination, or even growing..)

Here ya go AB ;) (he he)

(btw that was from google)

I'll post more pics of "AB Dream XXX" as and when new developments occur, my gut feeling is female - so fingers crossed.

Sorry about the link AB - couldn't resist! - But honestly it's all on google and I would have said the same thing though (maybe better) - I see you changed your sig again - :)

Now here is the plant, see it's stabalizing - however it has the appearance as if it's been tied down (you know - to promote muliple "main" coli) - but it hasn't as we all saw it from "birth"

side view too.

Hall! I was doing some reading over the weekend and stumbled across a phenomenon I'd LOVE to get my paws on... plants that grow prone along the ground!!! Basically LSTing themselves! I'd take one of those guys and grow it on a trellis like grapes, or along a screen a couple feet off the ground to avoid molding... I'm watching this little [I hope!] lady!

last season I experimented with light/time sexing. After 6 weeks of 20-4 I went to 12-12 for three weeks to id sex and went back to 20-4 to return to veg. Many, many of the plants had those leaves and growth patterns right through the season. Some came around at the end, most didn't. The head was not the best compared to plants I didn't use that light/time experiment.
