    Mutant Plants...

Hi guys + dolls, anyone got any ideas...

This plant called "AB Dream XXX" - well just look at the pic. have you had this thing and flowered it?
    My question(s) ...

    Presuming it's a female.

    1) If it is a female and I pollinate, and produce seeds, will they have a chance of being the same?
    2) If I clone will it be the same?
    3) Will a plant of this strangeness produce more bud?

To the "real" AB - don't worry it's not a "voodoo" plant, I never stick pins in my plants, you can sleep safe!

    Any ideas guys?

Hmmm. That does look weird. What would I do? I would veg it out until it's clone-able, clone it, then veg that clone. I had a plant that was sickly, semi-mutant looking. It looked horrible: nute burn, curling leaves, the works. Then we topped it. And that top became an awesome plant. Vigorous and symmetrical. We are now doing LST on it. You can see it in my thread. I then threw away the "mother" of that plant. It was beyond repair. I might have posted a pic of it way back when.

But since this thread is titled Mutant Plants, I thought I'd add in a recent pic of one of our flowering "text-clones." It touched the light and burnt, then mutated. It now has three flowers growing off of one growth tip. Enjoy. And good luck with your mutant plant. If you don't find any better advice, maybe try what I did.

and it seems to be branching out everywhere - this plant is only two weeks old from sprouting. Look at the stalk!!!

From the top it's quite symetrical now though, with two five fingered leaves, but look at the side view, hmmm...

Good idea TheGreenFog - I have just built a flowering room!

    All the best - Hall

I've exp mutated leaves too. As you picture looks it seems that mutated or not it has the will to live and grow. So lets experiment through you. Grow it to maturity and we'll all find out. I think that wierd little thing is pretty cool so lets see what its got.

AB... is it an Aussie Bastard derivative? Those carry weird mutant traits

I'm going to guess that whatever mutation you have is likely going to be recessive and the offspring will be carriers, but not express the trait. You might see it again if you do an F2 generation of that cross.

    Yes

Not necessarily. The mutation in the leaves and the possible yield are probably not linked.

That fused/split leaf thing is one of the mutations caused by polyploidy, where the chromosomes don't split right during meiosis. But that is not the ONLY thing that causes it, so hey, who knows, mutants are cool.

TY - Miss S. - we have a genetecist amongst us!!! (with breasts as well! - Bonus) j/k
Yeah I figured the F2 thing unless another has the same recessive gene, and anyway do we want this convoluted mass of leaves in our hybrids? LOL

Latest pic... now what? I almost feel it's gonna be female - so just keep going?
I have at least 5-6 weeks more of veg. to go - I'm going for a few plants, but BIG this time, and some for seeds - would hate to loose this strain (skunk #1) it's wicked, (a breasted genetecist/lab rat once told me that it was one of the "building blocks" of the canna gene pool)

    Comments welcome.
