im so peiced off right now and i need to vent.
so for the last 2 months my mom said she would give me 1000 for my new snowboarding gear, now i know that 1000 is a lot of money and that i shouldn't take it for granted but she PROMISED me that money and i was so excited, for 2 whole months, everyday i would ask her if she changed her mind (like she usually does) and nope, still wants to give me that thousand. so today we went to the snowboarding show at the CNE(canada) for the exibition where everything is taxless and cheaper!!! i pick out my dream board and right there she tells me she changed her mind.
i'm so fucking peiced off i can fucking go on a blinding rampage...
Thats low. I can't believe she did that. Sounds like she wanted to see you all sad and stuff.

The only life lesson I could see out of that would be to never trust anything your parents say ever.
I mean, thats bullshit. Don't get someone's hopes up for TWO months and then smash it to bits.
god you children make me sick. waaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh my mommy wont give me a thousand dollars for a snowboard waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah my parents are mean.

its not mean cause she didnt give it to him, its mean cause she built up his hope or whatever when she should've just told him no.

That does sound awefully strange...
Unless your mother is some kind of sadistic bitch,
it seems very possible she'll get you that board for christmas.

Sounds to me like she was trying to teach you a lesson of somesort. It probably was the pestering daily for 2months that did it, or, maybe she actually saw what snowboarding gear consisted of, and if she's like me, she would refuse to pay outrageous prices for crap that needs to replaced within a year anyways. Maybe she saw what you wanted and thought, "they want this much for that?!, fuck that shit" you know.
Anyways, don't be mad at your mom. Just ask her why she changed her mind, because all of us are just tossing out predictions of what actually is going on in her mind, so just ask her. It's only money and money is nothing to be hateful towards your parents, and a $1000 is no walk in the park either. That's about a months wage for me, and if my son wanted all this stuff for that price, then he can earn the money himself.
Whenever I wanted something expensive, like my Fender amp for example, I made them a deal saying if I earn the money for half the cost of the gear, could they pay the other half. She might go for that.
Just don't expect handouts like that. Do shit around the house, the yard, rake some leaves, cut some grass, earn some money somehow and show her you're making an honest effort at your goal. You don't work for it, you get none of it. They are paying for your schooling, food, clothing, housing, and income taxes on you. Just don't expect them to throw a $1000 at you for nothing. ;)
Good luck.

he was whining about his mom not giving him a thousand dollars for a snow board. did i miss something. just because she did say she would doesnt mean she is wrong for not forking over a thousand dollars for a snowboard. it means someone put some sense into her.
if i missed any other points i apologize.

oh forgot to mention, it WAS MY BIRTHDAY!!!
i've cooled off now but i'm still pretty pissed...
and this snowboarding show/exibition is on for like 4 days only, so i don't think i'll be getting it this christmas, i decided to take the advice and get a job and pay half of the cost. :)

Oh, a $1000 birthday gift is much more reasonable.
It's a lot of money man to lay down at once, that's all. Think about how hard your mom or dad had to work for that grand. That's no walk in the park.

I understand that bro. It can be a big letdown getting your hopes up like that, but you have to think in reason and realize that is a large sum of money.
I say suggest paying half or 3/4 of the snowboard gear and asking your folks nicely to pay the other half. That will show some responsibility and self sufficiancy and they might just go for it. Worked with my folks anyways when I wanted a Fender amp. It cost about $700, and I asked if I earned half of it, if they could help me out and pay for the other half. They were quite impressed and went for it. You should try that out and it might work.
Good luck getting that gear. One of buddies snowboard so I know how expensive that stuff can be. It ain't cheap stuff.
jeeze you guys...all it was is a situation where she had no mental picture of what he wanted and baited him along for the ride to set him up for a fucking damn nice present!
chill before ya blow it...sheesh

Just respect her decision and move on, regretting and thinking about it will only make you think of it, and its not a good thing, which would lead me to think you wouldn't want to think of it?
+ Be happy your mom even thought of giving you that much money at one point, or be happy your parents can even afford that man..
peace

Good idea. I'm proud of you for going that route!
When my brother and I got older and wanted expensive things, we would work and pay halfsies and it worked out really well.
Lots of times we were even told thank you for making the effort but we got for ya.
I still think it odd to take you to the show, have you pick something out then say no. Very odd. I'da been crying buckets too if I was totally expecting it.
BUT...now that you know what is up, ya gotta pull yourself up by the bootstrings and go for what you want. Trust me, in the end, you'll feel real good about yourself knowing that half that board is truely from your hard work. Go git em kiddo!

you should do something really nice for your mom now since she got it for you. clean the whole house, do the dishes for a month, something along those lines would make her really happy and would be a nice thank you. it might encourage her to do something like this again

If my parents ever even considered spending more then 20 dollars on my birthday, I would have been happy. We can't all have 1000 dollar gifts dropped into our laps. Maybe she decided she didn't want you to be a spoiled little hemale, and figured you should earn something that expensive. Don't bug.

Yeah dude, worse things have happened than your mom deciding not to buy you the universe.
Also, to the above poster, nice username/avatar.
