too much light?

i have a grow area 6'sq which requires about 15,000 lm of light, if i bought a 150watt HPS light that would produce 16,000 lm which seems enough but i was told the more light you have the better the bud so if i bought a 250 watt producing 28,000 lm would this be too much light. what would happen if i flooded my plants with light? thanx 4 the help.

ur going to need more than 150 w hps for 6x6 foot. at least a 1000w hps, probaly more if u want good coverage.
a 150w is ok for maybe 2x2 but it wont do shit over 6x6.

i have 925 watts in total i have a 600 watt hps light 85-90,000 lm and 3 envirolights in a space thats much smaller tha yours jus in a wardrobe cupboard thing so i rekon youll be fine
as far as i know you cant really have too much light
just watch out for the heat... thats a killa if you have too much (like me)
and yea you will need more light for that space size (probably)

wow thx ppl i didnt know that, i meant 6'sq area as in 3ft by 2ft. i reli dont have much money so i dont wanna go over 250 unless i have 2 what u think?

a 400 would be about ideal for your 2 by 3 area while your 250 will work it is a little underpowered for the space of 6 sq ft puts you at 41 watts per sq ft.

yup bejay is right: a 400 with good air flow will be perfect. YOu will need to buy decent fans to take air away and to bring it in or the heat will ruin them. If ur on a tight budget this could be difficult but it will pay for itself in next to no time if you invest in decent kit.

Any grow shop would have it, you could and should get a vented hood, and you will need a seperate fan for exhaust out of the room.

The grow shops will sell all of this - just "google" a local one.

I would personally get a 3ft 4 bulb set of T5 floros to veg with, and a 400 watt HPS to bud with, while budding with the 400 watt HPS you can be veging new ones under your t5s, possible set cab into 2 layers, upper layer with 400 watt HPS ( orange light ) and lower 1/3 with T5 floros and veging room.

400 is your best option with an air cooled hood and get some mylar to put up on the walls.
you could put a larger light but really the only advantage you might gain is better light penetration and disadvantage of added heat, electricity usage etc.
a 400 does a good job on smaller plants and if you can have a seperate area with cfl for cloning or keeping a mother a sog or scrog will probably yield the best as it keeps the canopy even and close to the light.
