TAMPA, Fla. (AP) â?? Hillsborough County authorities say a mother is charged with allowing her underage son to grow marijuana in her back yard.

Sheriff officials say 49-year-old Esther Soto told deputies she didn't mind because quote â?? â??it was a nice looking plant.â?

Authorities found nearly 73 grams of marijuana at the home.

Soto was charged yesterday with felony possession of marijuana over 20 grams and misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Soto is out of Orient Road Jail on 25-hundred dollars bond.

Her son also is facing charges

Notice how they always use the biggest number for emphasis. The statistic would be much less dramatic if they said, "Police only found 3/8ths of a pound of marijuana in the home.

Shame. Its sad, but if she was going to let him grow it, they might as well have done it inside, the right way. Either he went and bragged to his friends, which got him caught or someone peeked over the fence to track down that beautiful smell.

Of course, she will be penalized worse than a person who ran over a schoolkid in the crosswalk...that's how they do it over there, isn't it?

this is why i hate people. simply because they can't keep there noise outta peoples business then gotta sit there and arrest people for fucking Pot. so damn stupid. i hate the united states very much. i wanna move to canada :(

That's bullshit. If we want to grow a plant at our house, we should be able to, no matter what the fucking government says...it's completely obvious that marijuana isn't a harm to people nor society, and laws against it are simply laws to strip our rights to privacy. It's my body, and I'm going to do what the fuck I want to it, no matter what they tell me is 'right' or 'wrong.' I have no desire nor need to break any laws, except those against cannabis, and I'm very far from a criminal, so I wish to be left alone just as I myself do not impede on any other individual's rights or self. But yeah... definately not smart of him to grow it outside.

It's sad. That family will now be torn apart probably to the point of irreparability. I'm sure that this single cannabis plant would have done much more damage though...

I couldn't have said it any better. Cannabis doesn't destroy lives, (or really cause any harm at all) cannabis laws do. Fuck the government if they think they are going to tell me what I put into my body as a consenting adult. Other than that I'm a law abiding citzen, hell, I don't even break the speed limit. But to hell with a law banning a plant that spreads peace, love and hunger. :rasta:

oh shit my mum is letting me grow pot in her crib..... maybe i should move it, hahahahah fuck that ill just bribe the coppers, where i live it legal to grow 3 plants in the backyard and only fo personal use but i think they plan to chop it down to only 1 plant for every backyard, every body smoking that shit, even the politicians who run our country smoke that gunja.

Why in the world is the government so insane about a plant when they have children being kidnapped out of their houses, meth labs blowing up all over the place and terrorists threatening to kill us all.:confused:

You people obviously dont realize what a big threat marijuana does pose to society. Imagine if suddenly, everyone started seeing the world in a brand new way? Hell, that would almost cause people to go out of their comfort zones and actually question their reality as opposed to just accepting it. Because as everyone knows, the key to a sucessful society is a basic acceptance of ones role.
