Hey guys,

I'm flying for a weekend trip back home tomorrow, and I'm a nervous flyer by nature. So that means I can't get excited about my trip until I'm actually THERE safe and sound. Anyone else a nervous flyer? I'm not worried about terrorists, I'm worried about the plane going down. Any words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated. :)

I used to be a nervous flyer, till i actually FLEW a small light aircraft (called a Bulldog) it was a 2 seater trainer plane, so obviously i wasnt alone, i was scared before going up but once i was up there and took the controls, it was amazing, now the only thing i hate about flying is being crammed into a tiny chair with no leg room lol... obviously this is a different situation to what your gonna be doin, but i've been on a few flights in passenger jets, and there aint really that much to be worried about, your more likely to die in a car crash on the way to the airport! (if that makes you feel any better lol) :D

just relax MJ, be more worried about the in-flight meals.... yeeeeuuuuuck!!!

Peace

Don't they say it's safer to fly than to drive? Bring some gum/candy (I nearly wrote GUN! ACK!) and make sure you suck it as your taking off...the ears popping was the worst part for me... good luck, and have a nice trip!

its true. you're much safer flying then driving. you've got a much better chance of getting into a fatal car accident then there even being one single problem with your flight. chill out. maybe smoke a bowl before you take off? in the airport bathroom maybe? :rasta: i dont know man. just chill out, relax, have a good flight, and enjoy your trip. peace

I'm heading to the ' Dam in about six weeks an' i'm shittin' bricks about flying. But it only takes like , an hour or so to get there , so I should be o.k. with it (I hope)

I'm a nervous flyer to, and no matter how many people say that flying is safer than driving, the fact remains that while you may be more likely to get into an accident in a car, you're also more likely to walk away from it. Few, very few, people survive plane crashes on the other hand.

I'd rather take a train or ship anyway, travel should be about the journey there just as much as about the actual destination.

My wife says the same thing. I agree to a bit. I don't think I have a fear of flying, but I do have a fear of falling to my death :D

I won't fly because I am not the one in control. You will not catch me in the passenger seat of any vehicle.

still safer to fly than drive. of course you have already heard this from many other people and already decided to look past it. so good luck. i am afraid it makes my ears hurt but those fears are always backed up.
and yes you are more likely to walk away from that accident, but the statistic is this. you are more likely to be killed in a car crash than plane crash. meaning it is so unlikely something will happen to the plane...well i think you know what i mean here

I fly a lot for business so I don't even think about it anymore. I used to get sketched out a bit on the long(13hr) flights to Asia but now I just find them boring. The only time I really start to get nervous is when there's a lot of turbulance. I've been on flights where the plane is bouncing up and down a couple hundred feet at a time. Needless to say, when the "fasten seatbelt" sign comes on, I don't argue.

Airplane food, however, terrifies me!!!
