Cooking with moldy bud?

I just realized that the rest of my stash is covered in mold so I figure if I cant smoke it, Ill cook with it. So I was wondering if the bud if safe to eat...like not to make firecrackers, but maybe some cannabutter?
Also if anyone knows how much bud/shake to mix with butter, cooking time, etc, that would be great. Ive found a couple recipies on here, but I was wondering which one would be the best (easiest) one to go with.
Alltogether Ive got about 5 grams of bud, and 10-12 grams of shake...

ok, ive found a good recipie, sorry, shouldve searched before i posted, But im still wonderin whether its safe to cook with moldy shit?! Also a friend told me that if I dry the buds out, there still smokeable cause the mold will dry out and die, is this true?

i would throw it away man i consider myself a microbial expert..it is my job..but until recently i have not reasearched mold and weed....i would definetly say eating is better than smoking.......but again stomach cancer..is that better than lung cancer? i don;t know i have ate and smoked moldy weed before.....roll the dice you won't have any side effects for years anyway

Yeah, breathing in mold spores doesn't sound like a great idea. I wouldn't smoke it. I prolly wouldn't eat it either. If it's black mold, definitely throw it out, that shit is nasty.

I've smoked bud that almost molded.. i had a yield once i had to keep sealed up for more days than i expected and some of the buds molded.. i didn't smoke those and that was only a little mold. the rest of the buds were also pretty heady and harsh..

but those buds didn't have visible mold on it

No pics...sry, but the mold is white and looks kind of like spider webs.......I was thinking if i made butter or oil to mix in brownies with it, and strained out all of the peices so there was no actuall mold in it that i could use it? I kind of exagerated with the "covered" part, sorry but I was flippin out, lol its more like the mold is lightly layered around the bud, so that it all sticks together....So dont you think that straining all the peices out of the butter, and the heat from cooking would kill any spores? Need help quick im planning on cooking tommorow morning if its safe

There are so many species of mold out there that it's hard to say really. If I were to wager a guess, I'd say you'd probably be okay. Again REALLY hard to say, so I wouldn't advise it.. but.. it's your body.

yeah, well at least its not the dreaded "black" mold that people keep talking about lol so I guess Im gonna give it a go...besides Ive done worse to my body before. So if no one else has any suggestions...Ill probably post my results tommorow afternoon...wish me luck

DO NOT EAT IT. Even if you cook it, spores from the mold are extremely hardy, and will prevail. When you eat it, you may absorb the mycotoxins, and either become very, very sick, or, well, become very sick. I would definately not consume it. White, green, blue, black molds are all little devils that WILL fuck up your system if given the chance.

Ok...I made the brownies, ate two before school (along with 3 other people) had an awesome day, I wasnt stoned, but it was like an all-day heavy buzz kinda feeling! Nobody got sick for 1 sec., and we smoked pot, drunk yak and did some yayo before the football game....I ate two more, again with 3 people this morning around 7, im still buzzing, but i dont have the shits or feel sick at all.

No i dont feel 10 feet tall, but thanks for not being a smartass. Its obvious that either the mold I had on my nuggs wasnt a bad kind, or when I cooked it, it killed the spores (Big Whoop-Dee Fucking-Doo there considering heat kills germs, and my bud was cooked in vegtable oil, then in the brownie mix!!!). All I did was try something that I thought would work, and it did. So just because I made you look like a Dumb-Fuck because something worked for me that you thought wouldnt, doesnt mean that Im gonna get sick from it in the future...besides if you were wrong before, why am I supposed to believe your 'expert' knowledge now?..

To answer your question, mold occurs when cannabis is exposed to dark, warm, moist environments that allow mold spores to grow on the bud. Mold spores are everywhere, however, an excess of mold spores causes mold growth, and excess mold is NOT good for health.

gonna be real honest....
cooked with some moldy weed without knowing it (looked at it two days later and it was some spiderweb like white moldy stuff growing on top of it) and i didn't even get high.... worst part, i got sick for a week.... like really really sick. flu like symptoms but usually when i have flu, i can go to classes and do normal things, but with these symptoms, i literally had to stay in bed most of the day. College student and had classes but couldn't go to half of them....

Depends a lot on what the mold is. Some mold produces aflatoxins that cannot be filtered out. The black mold that does this most often is Aspergillus Negro and its aflatoxins can attack the central nervous system and the mold itself actually grow in the lungs of immune challenged individuals.

I have no suggestions for Aspergillus other than to discard it, but Bothrytis and Powdery Mildew do not produce any known toxins and the mold fibers and spores can be filtered out. We use a series of filters, ending up with 0.2 micron, which also takes out any bacteria.

Heat at any temperature that leaves any of the good stuff intact, does not affect the viability of spores, so is not a good defense.

Coffee filters are a joke if complete removal is your goal.

If I ended up with such a challenge, I would spend some time using good binocular microscope, to determine exactly what I had.

While we routinely pitch anything that is compromising to the patient providing it, we continue to play with the infected stuff, to determine exactly where the line lies. So far the answer is not black and white, but depends on exactly what you have and the growing conditions that it is living in.

I sample extractions myself, as do my fellow researchers, that we cannot supply to patients. Not often or without aforethought, but after we have eliminated the known hazards, just to test it out.

In that venue, please be damn careful what mold you ingest and pay close attention to what its secondary products are. Neurotoxins can be unrecoverable from and cannot be filtered out or killed by any temperature that our beloved Mary Jane can survive.

My best suggestion is to get a good microscope and determine exactly what you are dealing with or get out of the game..............
