I have 2 long papers to write, an exam to study for, and hundreds of pages to read...
 HOW DO YOU GET THE SELF-CONTROL TO DO YOUR DAMN WORK?

It doesn't take self-control to write a paper, it takes determination. It takes self-control to not kill yourself because of bordom in the process.

From one procrastinator to another, I find that just writing a paragraph or so a day makes things much more manageable. I used to (and still do with a lot of work) leave it until the night before, but then when I got into college, I started just writing out a paragraph each day, starting the day or so that I got the assignment. It works wonders, not only are you actually thinking about the paper for a much longer amount of time, the amount of actual work you do each day is so little it can take as little as 5 minutes each time. I usually have the entire paper written out after a few days, and that still gives me plenty of time to work on a 2nd and 3rd draft, as well as get it peer reviewed.
Still havn't completely broken the habit of leaving somethings to the very last minute and then pulling all nighters though.

I'm a procrastinator, too, RoyalHIGHNess. Always have been.
I find it helps me to set goals and timers. I'll say, "OK, I'm going to spend the next hour and a half with this book or writing this paper, and I'm not going to do anything else." After that's done, I can surf the Web for a half hour. (Or get a soft drink or whatever small reward I like the sound of.) I set a digital timer and force myself to spend that time studying or writing. But I make sure it's a manageable block of time. After breaks and rewards, I set myself a new attainable goal.
I can sometimes manage to procrastinate even using that technique. When that happens, I generally just put the work off till panic sets in and I have to frantically study/write/memorize or face the consequences later. Waning time and fear of looking stupid or failing embarrassingly is always a good motivator for me.
