Do the plants continue to get larger as they flower? Trying to decide when to start. Thx

hi, : )
most plants will double and triple in size during the first 2-4 weeks after they are switched to 12/12. It depends how tall they are when you induce flowering. topping the plant will not slow down it vertical growth, it will make your plant wider and more dense...

in most cases, plants should be forced to flower when they are between 10-20 inches tall... because of the limited penetration of indoor lighting

and NOW you KNOWM

Garden Knowm, I just put my plants of 12/12 at like 1.5 weeks and they're maybe six inches tall. How big do you think they'll get by the time they're ready to harvest, just under a lot of CFLs?

well if i were you i wouldnt flower at 1.5 weeks as its too soon i recently had a thread on here askin if my plants were mature enough to flower after one week from germination as it says on the seedbanks info on the strain that i couldif ya get me.
i didnt really get a solid awnser so emailed the seed company they said that strain (cinnamon) can be flowered that early but reccomend to wait 2-3 weeks
anyway all ima say is that unless your seeds are a early maturing strain then i wouldnt flower yet you need to have around five nodes with secondry nodes comin off those otherwise you wont really get much off em if i were you i would wait another 2 weeks then flower if your tight on space
people generally say you should leave a plant for 4-8 weeks before fllowering as this is when they are mature enough to flower properly
see if you can put up some pics that will help us to see wether you should flower

Hmm, well I think they're just starting to get their fifth nodes so I'll just leave them on 12/12 and see what happens.

I recently witnessed a plant get flowered at one week old.. it only had 4 nodes and was four inches tall... when it was done flowering, it was 23+ inches tall and harvested more than 3 ounces...

go figure

Plants started from seed that are flowered very early will usually grow a lot more in flowering than what you might expect from a clone that is flowered VERY early..

Some people go straight to 12/12 from the start.

The key to knowing that the plant is ready to flower is by the alternating nodes. If you notice the nodes grow at the same spot to both sides then after it grows up and the nodes start growing one higher than the other, that's the sign that they are mature enough to flower. It really depends on what you want to do. You can flower early and get buds and you can flower later and get more buds.
