hi. i noticed when smoking out of my glass pipe recently, that it seems really harsh. it almost burns my lips and tongue. ive been trying to figure out what could be wrong.
i notice when i turn the bowl over to empty the ashes, sometimes it will leak some kind of brownish liquid. i thought it could be drool causing the problem, so i cleaned out the piece and let it dry out completely. the next time i smoked, i held the pipe at an angle which would be impossible for me to drool down into it. after smoking 2 bowls, i see that im still having the same problem. the harsh burn of the smoke, and the liquid still somehow accumulates.
When i clean the pipe i can get all the resin out except for a small layer around the back of the bowl.
any suggestions about what i can do to prevent this from happening?

i wouls boil it out to clean all the resin and start over fresh. dont put it straight into the hot water, let it all get to boiling temp together and let it cool by itself after u drain the water. otherwie it may crack

How long is it? The chamber maybe too short and the smoke isn't cooling, that or you keep the lighter on your bud too long.

Are you using a zippo? Those can drip fluid in to the pipe if you hold it upside down. Gross stuff!

thanks, i got it. i guess the small area behind the bowl was accumulating spit and water. boiled & then soaked in alcohol. ive got my pipe back
keep it clean
Try using a screen.

I've had the hole problem but it can be fixed once the bowl gets resinated.
I know this. I use a screen on certain glass pieces, as the hole in the bowl is too large.
me 2!~ i hate when i lose the damn thing cause its so small, i had a glass screen one time that was like a pirimid shape but broke it then lost the peices, now i have the one shaped like a little flower

Ive stopped using my steamroller for this reason, hits are not very nice and ash gets sucked into the pipe and looks gross when showing off my piece

to make a pipe 100% clean, do this
1. GET A ZIPLOCK
2. PUT 1 TBL. SPN OF SALT IN BAG
3. PUT PIECE IN ZIPLOCK, STILL OPEN
4. FILL ZIPLOCK WITH ISO RUBBING ALCHOHOL, ALMOST COVERING PIPE
5. ADD MORE SALT IF NEEDED.
6. SHAKE , LET IT SIT FOR 5, SHAKE FOR 2-3 MINS
7. Brand new pipe.

so just put it in a pot of water, boil the water, let the water temp go down again, then take the pipe out? sorry, just clarifying

This usually only happens to me when I am trying to get a resin hit without my screen on... meh.

yes when its starts boiling u will see the water turn brown like bong water and some pieces of resin from the piece maybe. u can take it out of the boiling water if u want when u are done but dont drop it at all and do not put it back in any water. just let it sit somewhere and air cool.
and clean the pot/pan or it will stain with resin
