View Full Version : Infraction System

There is a new infraction system in place. We are able to give members direct warnings when out of line rather than having to email them personally. They will see the infraction the next time the user logs on. This is going to be used as a warning system, when you recieve one please don't make a big fuss about it. Simply abide and take it as a friendly reminder.

We'd really prefer not to ban you...So don't make us.

Thanks,
Bob.

So I thought i'd open this up and let some feedback happen on this new infraction system.. it has been tweaked and is now in place again..

Here's how it works...

An infraction is given when we either recieve enough complaints about a user or we ourselves notice something directly out of line with what we'd like to see on our forums. This will decrease the amount of bans that happen significantly. when enough infraction points are gained by a user or their posting deemed malicious than that user will be banned.

When you recieve an infraction you will be notified the next time you visit or login.
We ask that you don't post threads asking why you recieved an infraction as it only draws attention to yourself and is really unnecessary. You will be given a reason when/if you recieve one.

Any suggestions and comments are appreciated.. this system is really just in place for the mods use...as it allows us to deal with things through the site rather than both on and off the website.

In other words...you're basically going to have to try to be banned from here in order to recieve a ban from now on...and when you are.. you won't be welcome back.

It's simple really..Just be cool baby....Just...be cool. There's simply certain things that we'd rather not have on the site.

Cheers and stay stoned,
Bob.

when you close your browser you actually log out...you've simply set your browser to remember the cookies and cache (username/password) and it automatically logs you in..

you'd get it the next time you visit the site.

p.s. if you left the forum open all the time.. you'd get it like a PM, the next time you refreshed the page.

I think its a good idea actually ! maybe there should be some sort of guide line (apart from the rules) saying specifically why me might recieve an infraction?

Also, how many infractions can we get before we get banned?

They expire... and don't feel horrible if you get one! You shouldn't!

They're simply there to let you know if your posting is out of line, and you'll know why also. we can pm anyone at will now.. so trust me when i say you have to ignore our warnings.. or TRY to be banned, in order for us to actually ban you.

Just the simple fact that you acknowledge that you got one funky shows that it really wasn't intentional .. this is why the system is in place.

4 Points is 3 Weeks,8 points is 2 Months, and 12 is life. No need for any worry though.......the infractions only stay in effect for a matter of 18-65 days depending on what was said/done.

Have a good one!

Would it be possible to have a new board set up for rants. I tend to rant a lot on boards and when I do I like to use foul language as do many others. It would be nice to have one board for members to break a few of the minor rules. Not a flame board, people just act like 10 year olds on those anyway. But a board for general bitching would be nice so if we want to drop an f-bomb 20 times in a 200 word post we can

My feelings won't be hurt if this isn't taken seriously, I just think it would be nice. I do agree with this system though and it does appear we really have to try and get banned.

Seems terribly complicated and no recourse for appeal. I guess no appeal is necessary as long as the 'judges' never make mistakes.

I think it would be nice if you guys would mention to us what particular thread our offences originated in... Being told that I've insulted someone doesn't really narrow things down at all for me. So rather than allowing me to moderate my behavior, its more like a slap on the wrist and being told to "think about what I've done".
But I have no idea what you're talking about. So i'll probably just wait till your back is turned and give you the finger.
I'm sure none of us want that. So...

Hello folks it's great to be back. For various reasons I decided not to correspond for awhile, and it looks like some great changes have taken affect during my absence. I absolutely love the new infraction system. I expect it will for the most part take care of needless and irresponsible banning, as well as some inappropriate posting. Of course it is not perfect and I could stand to see a couple of things changed or added, but it is way better than what we had before; almost nothing in the way of a logical system for determining infractions and repercussions. Glad to see some people are on the ball. Keep up the good work guys. I hope you will continue to strive to make this a better community.

Incase anyone is interested, I thought I would like to share one thing in particular about the system that I hope is changed.

I agree with Polymirize that it would be nice to know exactly what we did wrong. I don't understand how we can be expected to learn from our mistakes if we don't know what they were. I??m not sure if the new system has something like that in place, but I am hopeful. Last fall seemed to be a particularly bad time for banishment. It was at a time when many mods seemed to have an attitude typified by something that one of them actually said: ??You can be banned for any reason or even no reason?. I read that and thought ??What the hell? Did that really just happen?? Sure enough it did, because I was banned twice and I??m still not sure why. I asked that someone point out exactly what I said that deserved banishment, but I just got one answer that was like ??get a clue,? or something. I probably never will know, and I don??t really care too much anymore, as long as this new system helps alleviate that problem. I don??t even expect to be anywhere near that problem anyway, as long as everyone obeys the rules.

It also would be nice if there were some rules about closing and deleting posts. It really sucks to spend time writing up some feedback or something, and having it closed or deleted with no explanation other than ??the mods are kings.?

It seems like the guidelines noted in the rules are a very good idea, and I hope the mods need to see at least one of these rules broken before punishment is dispensed. Awhile back, it seemed like the mods were banning people if they were in a bad mood or something.

Crap, this got long. Thumbs up, and keep up the good work.

It seems to me that people are trying to way over-complicate the issue, lol.. If you fuck up, you get a friendly warning. Keep fucking up, and you get more warnings. If you still keep it up, the mods don't want you here anymore, and I imagine neither do the members, so bye bye. It's that simple.

It's awesome that so many people at Cann.com want all of the new features to be perfected though, it's one of the many reasons this forum rules.

Anyway.. lol, thanks, another worthwhile feature :)

I like the idea of a warning befor being banned. I mean we need to be told that we are out of line before we can really realize it some times. . .but we should be alowed to argue our case. . .

IF your signature was the reason for the infraction then it will disappear......like yours did. I guess it wasn't quite "subtle" enough.

XD. Watch a mod delete it thinking I'm a bitch.

It's not like you weren't expecting it..........

I never did expect it, I didn't mean to attack little people, if you read the thread I thought he was talking about Cannabis.com. I said that comment because I did not mean to make it offensive.

Anyways, can I put my quote back up there?
